Water distribution networks (WDNs), which are responsible for delivering water of adequate quantity and quality, vulnerable to threats such as leaks, pipe breaks, contaminant intrusions. Hence, it is important identify critical network elements develop more assertive maintenance strategies systems. This paper aims perform a risk assessment on leaks breaks support the identification in supply To this end, complex theory (CNT) applied an alternative conventional approaches that rely multiple hydraulic simulations. Metrics robustness, redundancy, centrality, connectivity used analyze graphs representing WDNs. Failures modeled using simulations evaluate their impact parameters pressure flow. CNT metrics then applied, including shortest path calculations between sources demand vertices assess importance, vertex centrality node influence network. The results compared with outcomes CNT-based analyses. Multi-criteria analysis employed determine asset priority, considering failures associated impacts system. highlight novel approach shifts focus from state-based assessments topology-driven analysis, reducing uncertainties inherent models.

The construction industry is one of the most significant consumers environmental resources worldwide. Faced with need to produce new buildings, but without further burdening environment, attempts improve social, economic, and indicators have turned attention building in recent decades. objective this research develop a novel framework assess sustainable choice materials applied low-income according three pillars Triple Bottom Line (TBL). A BIM-LCSA-FAHP-based model was proposed creation nine different scenarios, where structure (precast concrete, cast-in-place structural masonry), painting (PVA water-based acrylic), roofing (ceramic fiber cement tiles) varied. procedure consists elaboration 3D Building Information Modeling (BIM) model, for which parameters described above were evaluated Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA)-TBL-based criteria, divided into ten sub-criteria, that includes: (1) (acidification, eutrophication, global warming, ozone depletion, smog formation, primary energy, non-renewable mass total), (2) economic (construction cost) (3) socio-political issues (community impact). Finally, Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) used as multi-criteria decision-making technique helps aggregating classifying impacts each scenario sustainability index (SI). Regarding best option construction, results indicated precast concrete when combined acrylic paint tiles (scenario 3) proved be advantageous achieved first place (SI) developed work. Group Decision-Making (GDM), though could aid water companies in determining the Pipeline Rehabilitation Plans (PRPs) any network size, can impose uncertainties on PRPs due to different viewpoints of decision-makers. Thus, it should be determined when GDM ignored or considered for PRPs. To address this problem, a Fuzzy model was developed assess 10 scenarios combination with 7 size. Hence, by participating experienced experts countries, were various sizes case study. The results indicated that fewer pipes, whereas, more pipes. In addition, found groups decision-makers had less effect pipes prioritization, but influence rehabilitation strategies. While, decision-makers, have reverse effect.

Abstract A water distribution network (WDN) is an essential component of urban supply scheme to deliver safe and adequate consumers under various operational conditions. This study focuses on the performance evaluation WDN using fuzzy logic-based aggregation reliability, resilience, vulnerability indices. To assess individual indicators, this advocates pressure-dependent analysis (PDA) for hydraulic simulation. Furthermore, it a rule-based aggregated index (API) that will outcome in linguistic form help decision-maker prioritize maintenance WDN. The proposed method illustrated with real-time part Dire Dawa city Ethiopia. It has been found API values are 0.721 0.624, respectively, normal abnormal conditions, which just satisfactory. noticed nodes J4, J44, J47, J49 critical from overall low API.
