Abstract After disasters, direct deaths and secondary health effects, such as diabetes psychological distress, can occur. It is critical to compare the magnitudes of these risks promote effective public measures. In this study, we used loss happy life expectancy (LHpLE) associated with diabetes, radiation-induced cancer after 2011 Fukushima disaster. Two questionnaire surveys were conducted on people affected by disaster investigate potential associations between well breast reduced emotional happiness, 680 582 participants, respectively. Additionally, calculated LHpLE owing risks. Although no significant reduction was found in happiness due or cancer, a occurred distress (0.265 0.476 for males females, respectively). population aged 40–74 years, 0.0013, 0.14, 0.21 This suggests that association over two orders magnitude greater than cancer. Within 7 years following disaster, increased, highlighting an ongoing issue. Therefore, novel indicator provide foundation promoting measures disasters.

Abstract Objective This study exploratively analyzed the associations of well-being with psychological characteristics, socioeconomic status (SES), and number relocations after Fukushima nuclear disaster. Methods Using a cross-sectional design, an online questionnaire survey was administered to 416 residents Tokyo each aged 20-59 years (832 in total) between August 25 26, 2018, which 7 half Categorical factor analysis multiple regression were performed investigate 5 scales (positive emotion, negative-free life satisfaction general happiness, positive functioning) SES, relocations. Results Four scales, except for strongly associated other showed similarities strength their characteristics SES. Among items surveyed, distress, mindfulness, marital among residents. Contrarily, radiation risk perception or not significantly well-being. Conclusions Focusing on distress is expected have significant impact improving In addition, assistance avoiding unintended family separation may be helpful.

ABSTRACT In response to the global energy and climate crises, many countries have decided invest in construction of new nuclear power plants. However, these developments bring safety security concerns, further exacerbated by complex relationship between demands escalating geopolitical tensions. Lessons from past emergencies (e.g., Fukushima Zaporizhzhia) highlighted need for preparedness strategies protect public potential incidents, with an emphasis on awareness effective instructional risk communication. This paper presents a content analysis examining themes components within campaigns, assessing their evidence‐based foundations. Specifically, this identifies key elements that should be included enhance effectiveness communications, focusing like IDEA model audience segmentation, both which are recognized as communication methods. A total 47 campaigns 28 different were analysed. The results show while most include crucial instructions, they often fall short fostering internalization public, essential factor ensuring learning achieve behavioural outcomes individuals dealing risks. Moreover, inconsistencies terminology event phase specifications found, could affect clarity comprehension. Given segmentation models communication, recommends integrating into future campaigns. Ultimately, findings provide valuable insights help governmental nongovernmental organizations design develop efforts critical area.

After the Fukushima nuclear accident in Japan, a number of practical activities related to public understanding (PU) radiation risks were implemented inside and outside Prefecture. The various noteworthy approaches strategies behind those have not been organized made explicit thus far. In this study, we PU following accident, discussed them mainly from standpoints communication approaches. As several examples demonstrate, efforts contextualize localize risk forms observed during post-accident recovery Fukushima, these confirmed, through actual experiences, be an important component effective risks. It is crucial to evaluate ethical issues regarding evacuation orders, especially after a nuclear disaster. After the Fukushima accident in 2011, Japanese government ordered affected people evacuate. The orders have now been lifted many areas. A risk trade-off analysis between benefits and associated with returning home would help evaluating justification for lifting of order aftermath Here, we performed among an increase emotional happiness (positive effect) loss life expectancy due additional radiation exposure (negative effect), using happy (HpLE) indicator. Emotional was estimated questionnaires distributed who lived municipalities where were lifted. Loss under scenario that returnees received 20 mSv year return subsequent exposure. Increase ~1-2 magnitude higher women aged 20, 40 65 years than This finding has implications orders.

Teachers have center management roles; however, there is no established training for teachers to balance their roles and teaching activities. We evaluated the effectiveness of simulation that we designed help fulfill in situations while minimizing educational interruptions. A total 42 completed pre- post-simulation questionnaires. Qualitative data were collected based on free-response evaluations.
