The present study examines perceptions and preparedness for flooding in Greece, a country increasingly impacted by natural hazards, particularly due to the effects of climate change. Despite frequent occurrence floods, public remains insufficient many areas. Through survey 1282 respondents from various regions Greece using R statistical software process analyse data, research explores relationship between individual flood risk perceptions, prior experiences, household-level preparedness. findings show most participants are aware governmental plans, but significant gap exists perceived risks actual preparedness, especially regarding insurance relocation willingness. reveal that majority management plans; however, outcomes concerning willingness relocate highlight efforts. Many expressed dissatisfaction with current measures address risks, leading diminished trust respective authorities. To enhance awareness engagement underscores importance localized communication strategies tailored different demographic groups. Given observed efforts should focus on bridging this disconnect through practical, community-driven initiatives. Recommendations include implementing targeted campaigns, promoting government transparent policies, providing financial incentives such as subsidized encourage protective actions, and, additionally, fostering community involvement disaster management, historically flood-prone regions, strengthen resilience against future events.

Floods represent a significant threat to the livelihoods of individuals and pose challenges global development prospects. An individual’s age is an essential predictor for adopting flood preparedness measures. In this context, present study aims identify community resilience based on age. Two groups were considered analysis, i.e., young group (age less than 24 years) adult over years), using Flood Resilience Index (FRI) approach through five dimensions resilience, natural, physical, economic, social, institutional. The data analysis included 200 respondents, with each compromise equaling 100 from both groups. A total 34 structured questions analyzed FRI dimensions. survey results show that overall in low, but adults are relatively more flood-resilient group. Moreover, all differences between two groups, appearing resilient shows local authorities protection bodies should focus community’s youth regarding risks flooding.

On 28 September 2022, Hurricane Ian pummeled parts of south Florida. Disaster and climate change research has shown that disasters exacerbate inequalities, especially amongst older physically vulnerable people. Florida a large population Veterans managing multiple chronic health conditions receiving long-term care in-home from Health Administration (VA) programs, including Home Based Primary Care Medical Foster Home. To describe how VA staff provided high quality during after the hurricane, caregivers accessed needed healthcare supports post-hurricane, we conducted site visit to Lee County, area in May 2023, conducting N = 25 interviews with staff, Veterans, caregivers. Findings qualitative thematic analysis showed while some experienced significant challenges displacement difficulty accessing oxygen, they felt highly supported by teams. Staff efforts post-hurricane focused on improving coordination anticipation future disasters, around communicating their caregivers, workgroup formed implement changes.
