Autonomous vehicles (AVs) are rapidly evolving as a novel way of transportation. Nevertheless, there is consensus that AVs cannot address all traffic scenarios independently. Consequently, arises need for remote human intervention. To pave the large-scale deployment onto public roadways, innovative models operation must evolve. Such paradigm Tele-assistance, which posits low-level control should be delegated through high-level commands. Our work explores how such command language constructed first step in designing Tele-assistance user interface. Through interviews with 17 experienced teleoperators, we elicit set discrete commands operator can use to resolve various road scenarios. Subsequently, create scenario-command mapping and thematic classification defined Finally, present an initial interface design based on these

Abstract During the early stages of Industry 4.0 era, teleoperation with human involvement in manufacturing processes and robot operation remained important. The existing technologies have limitations providing operator spatial awareness initiative control mechanism, making their applications difficult tasks high complexity precision. This study implements advancements from Internet Things (IoT) Virtual Reality (VR) technology to improve real-time for industrial robots. proposed design utilizes benefits Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol conjunction a cloud broker, which has not been addressed significantly previous studies teleoperation. setup enables system efficiently handle substantial amounts data short periods time, allowing an uninterrupted user experience while maintaining consistent connection regardless distance. Real-time is accomplished by tracking user's hand movements VR controller visual feedback environment. incorporation intends intuitiveness controlling operations, provide more responsive feedback, quality work performed operators. Practical experiments are conducted observe performance against under different internet conditions QoS setups. evaluation criteria primarily concern latency accuracy. experiment aims evaluate effectiveness scalability suggested offer significant insight into its advantages relative through systematic investigation.

Purpose The purpose of the research is to conduct an exploratory investigation material handling activities Italian logistics hub. Wearable sensors and other smart tools were used for collecting human environmental features during working activities. These factors correlated with workers' performance well-being. Design/methodology/approach Human play important role in operations management since they significantly influence employees' performance, well-being safety. Surprisingly, empirical studies about impact such aspects on are still very limited. Trying fill this gap, empirically explores affecting workers exploiting tools. Findings Results suggest that attitudes, interactions, emotions conditions remarkably well-being, however, showing different relationships depending individual characteristics each worker. Practical implications authors' opens up new avenues profiling employees adopting individualized resource management, providing managers operational system capable potentially check improve performance. Originality/value originality study comes from in-depth exploration using body-worn work activities, by recording individual, collaborative data real-time. To best knowledge, current paper first time a detailed analysis has been carried out real-world operations.

The increasingly aging workforce is bringing particular attention to senior individuals in production sectors. While the interest Virtual Reality (VR) applications for industrial robotics grows, question of whether and how workers can withstand VR-based repetitive tasks arises. We here aimed answer such questions by systematically assessing young users' experiential, behavioural, cognitive factors during simulated robotic teleoperations VR. Two control systems VR telerobotics, button- action-based controls, were employed. Human performance, vigilance, workload measured through self-reports a VR-integrated eye-tracker. Additionally, age-dependent differences individual cultural experiential explored via self-report measures. Despite being slower experiencing increased fatigue under specific conditions, as suggested eye-tracking measures, users demonstrated comparable precision operating arm their younger counterparts. Notably, both age groups reported similar levels perceived fatigue. paper provides an in-depth analysis advantages challenges adopting advanced telerobotics across different groups, consistently emphasising human-centered dimension.
