Developing highly efficient photocatalysts for water splitting is crucial in the conversion of solar energy into hydrogen. Improving catalytic performance via substituents optimization on photocatalyst a desirable technique, as it requires minimum changes to its structure. In this study, we showcase impact halogenation efficiency tetrazine-integrated 1D linear polymers generating hydrogen using photocatalysis. This work utilizes three copolymers (PhTz, FTz, and ClTz) synthesized by Pinner process, employing tetrazine phenylene/tetrafluorophenylene/tetrachlorophenylene, respectively. The have π-conjugated backbone display significant absorption visible spectrum with an red edge within wavelength range 820–640 nm optical band gaps ranging from 1.51 1.94 eV. photocatalytic evolution these under metal-free conditions has revealed that fluorine-substituted polymer (FTz) exhibited significantly higher 227 μmol g–1 h–1, which twice high ClTz (116.6 h–1) five times than nonhalogenated (PhTz) (46.2 h–1). presence halogens substantially lowered barrier adsorption surface: ΔG° values ClTz, PhTz are 0.07, 0.11, 0.19 eV, On other hand, reducing bandgap, augmenting light, facilitating binding atoms.

This review focuses on optical properties of compounds in which at least one phosphonate group is directly attached to a heteroaromatic ring.
