Origami metamaterials exhibit abnormal mechanical properties through artful structural design. To further explore the behavior of reentrant metamaterials, a multi-directional auxetic origami metamaterial (AOMM) was designed, and its negative Poisson's ratio effect analyzed diagram load bearing deformation. Theoretical models related to geometric parameters, relative density, folding rate, equivalent elasticity plateau were established reveal deformation transformation mechanism, influence size parameters on elastic constants drawn. Using thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) as substrate, two types AOMMs fabricated by 3D printing, quasi-static compression experiments performed. The results show that TPU has reusable compressive capacity, whose behaviors are mainly contributed buckling instability large sidewall. There is coupling between cross connection boundaries, which in difference AOMM with different sizes. prediction yield strain theories approximate experimental results. Simultaneously, finite element analyses conducted, agrees well experiments. These foundings may provide reference for design application novel or metamaterials.
