Coulomb friction is considered as a mechanical approach to diminish the structural responses during excitations. However, in case of severe oscillations supplementary mechanisms are employed besides mitigate destructive effects vibrations structures. The tuned mass damper (TMD) is a classical device interesting for reducing deformations between DOFs without physically connecting them. However, it has practical limit due to the increase in required improving its performance. A building (BMD) uses mode coupling make upper substructure of chain-like structure behave as TMD lower substructure, which avoids adding structure. Unfortunately, near-uniform structures require isolation tuning BMD, making impractical retrofitting existing since an in-series intervention. Compared with traditional tuned mass damper (TMD), non-traditional (NTMD) has higher damping efficiency in some conditions.
