ObjectiveTo explore the association between metabolic status, body mass index (BMI), and natural history of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF).MethodsThe global, prospective GLORIA-AF Registry Phase II III included recent diagnosis AF November 2011 December 2014 for January 2016 III. With this analysis, we categorized according to BMI (normal weight [18.5 24.9 kg/m2], overweight [25.0 29.9 obese [30.0 60.0 kg/m2]) status (presence hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia). We analyzed risk major outcomes using multivariable Cox regression analyses; primary outcome was composite all-cause death adverse cardiovascular events.ResultsThere were 24,828 (mean age, 70.1±10.3 years; 44.6% female) included. Higher associated metabolically unhealthy higher odds receiving oral anticoagulants other treatments. Normal-weight showed a (adjusted hazard ratio [aHR], 1.20; 95% CI, 1.01 1.42) thromboembolism, whereas lower (aHR, 0.35; 0.14 0.88) events 0.56; 0.33 0.93) observed in healthy individuals. Unhealthy groups also increased bleeding 1.51 [95% 1.04 2.20] aHR, 1.96 1.34 2.85] groups, respectively).ConclusionIncreasing poor more intensive treatment. Prognosis heterogeneous showing events.

Importance Although research indicates that low fitness in youth is associated with a higher risk of chronic disability men, the association adolescence work ability working men and women remains unknown. Objective To examine associations adolescent health-related physical future ability. Design, Setting, Participants This 45-year observational cohort study, conducted Finland, examined direct indirect longitudinal objectively measured (in 1976) self-reported sickness absence early middle age 2001) Work Ability Index late 2021). A countrywide stratified random baseline sample included measurements for cardiorespiratory (CRF) (running 1.5 km girls 2 boys), musculoskeletal (MF; standing broad jump sit-ups both sexes, pull-ups boys, flexed-arm hang girls), height weight, from which body mass index (BMI) was calculated. Structural equation modeling–based path analysis, adjusted sex at educational level, work-related strain, leisure-time activity age, conducted. Data analysis performed January to July 2023. Main Outcomes Measures Self-reported structured questions validated age. Results The final analyses (1207 individuals; 579 [48%] male individuals) consisted participants measurement 12 19 years, assessment 37 44 years and/or 57 64 years. Higher CRF (839 participants; β = 0.12; 95% CI, 0.01 0.22; P .03) lower (834 −0.07; −0.12 −0.02; .004) and, indirectly, mediated by end (603 0.04; 0.001 0.08; .04). results remained consistent sexes after adjustment confounders. Neither MF nor BMI (MF, 1192 −0.17 0.03; BMI, 1207 participants, 0.09; −0.004 0.19) or 1185 0.02; −0.03 0.06; 1202 −0.03; −0.09 0.03) ability, 603 −0.06 0.01; 0.07). Conclusions Relevance These findings suggest poor life, highlights informative prognostic value youth. Enhancing first decades life might contribute better capacity productivity labor force, would have implications health, quality society, economy.

Exercise has multiple health benefits and reduces cardiovascular morbidity mortality. Regular exercise decreases the burden of risk factors improves prognosis in several cardiac conditions. Despite these premises, sudden death (SCD) during sports may occur apparently healthy athletes who perform at highest levels. Accurate identification prompt treatment individuals reduce SCD. A possible cardiotoxic effect intense been recently postulated, however this is still matter controversy as causal relationships are often difficult to establish taking into account confounders. safe for majority, even with disease. In review, we focus on sports, discussing their risks recommendations those
