Background: In recent years, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) has been applied to different psychiatric conditions beyond post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), an increasing number of studies have evaluated its effect on depression. To date, no quantitative synthesis the efficacy EMDR depression conducted. Objective: meta-analytically review for as primary target treatment.Method: Studies with a controlled design evaluating were searched six electronic databases (PubMed, Embase, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Cochrane database, Francine Shapiro Library) then selected by two independent reviewers. A systematic meta-analysis was conducted. Results: Eleven included qualitative synthesis. Nine in meta-analysis, involving 373 participants. The overall size depressive symptoms is large (n = 9, Hedges' g – 1.07; 95%CI [–1.66; 0.48]), high heterogeneity (I2 84%), corresponds 'number needed treat' 1.8. At follow-up (range 3–6 months), remains significant but moderate 3, 0.62; [–0.97; 0.28]; I2 0%). compared active controls also 7, 0.68; [–0.92; 0.43]; No publication bias found, although results are limited small poor methodological quality studies. Conclusions: Review findings suggest that may be considered effective treatment improving depression, effects comparable other treatments. However, need interpreted light their quality. Further research required understand longer-term treating preventing relapse.Protocol registration: PROSPERO (CRD42018090086).

Learning objectives • Develop and implement treatment plans for children adolescents with functional neurological disorder (FND) Outline a plan to increase awareness standardize the care patients FND using evidence-based interventions Abstract Functional in involves biological embedding of lived experience body brain. This culminates stress-system activation or dysregulation aberrant changes neural network function. In pediatric neurology clinics, represents up one-fifth patients. Current research shows good outcomes prompt diagnosis biopsychosocial, stepped-care approach. At present, however—and worldwide—FND services are scarce, result long-standing stigma ingrained belief that do not suffer from real (“organic”) they therefore require, even deserve, treatment. Since 1994, Mind-Body Program at The Children’s Hospital Westmead Sydney, Australia—run by consultation-liaison team—has delivered inpatient hundreds outpatient others. For less-disabled patients, program enables community-based clinicians biopsychosocial locally providing positive (by neurologist pediatrician), assessment formulation team), physical therapy assessment, clinical support (from team physiotherapist). this Perspective we describe elements mind-body intervention capable providing, as needed, effective FND. Our aim is communicate institutions around world what needed establish community programs, well hospital interventions, their own health settings.

Introduction The COVID-19 pandemic has been associated with a substantial rise in mental health challenges, prompting need for accessible and effective therapeutic interventions. This review summarizes the evidence on remote Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy delivered response to increased need. Methods A systematic was conducted following Preferred Reporting Items Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Databases including PsychINFO, EMBASE, MEDLINE, Web of Science were searched identify studies assessing efficacy EMDR administered online. Results Sixteen articles meeting inclusion criteria selected, involving 1,231 participants across various age groups. Studies covered individual group sessions self-administered computerized protocols. Findings indicate promising outcomes reducing PTSD symptoms, anxiety, depression. Discussion analysis selected demonstrates feasibility potential online as an option addressing difficulties, particularly during times limited in-person interaction. However, revealed limitations such small sample sizes, absence control groups, reliance self-reported measures. registration: present registered “The International Database Register Your Reviews” (INPLASY) registration number 2023120018 DOI 10.37766/inplasy2023.2.0068 .

People with intellectual disabilities (ID) are at increased risk for developing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Emerging evidence indicates that Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is feasible potentially effective this group. However, communication, cognition, stress regulation, attachment difficulties may interfere the EMDR process. Adaptation of protocol seems therefore required population.

The mental health of children living in humanitarian crisis situations is a major issue. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) causes great psychological suffering and has negative consequences on children's development. aim the study was to analyze retrospective data collected psychosocial support program for Central African Republic, compare results two trauma-focused treatment interventions: narrative protocol Action contre la Faim (ACF)/KONO; EMDR-based Group Trauma Episode Protocol (G-TEP). Both protocols are proposed group setting led by paraprofessionals. In program, 884 attended psychoeducation session after that, 661 (290 ACF/KONO 371 G-TEP) benefited from all sessions. PTSD measured Children's Revised Impact Event Scale (CRIES-8). General distress Child Psychosocial Distress Screener (CPDS). Data were before treatment, 5 months end 185 children. Participants show significant reduction CRIES-8 (t = 44.8; p < 0.001, effect size 2.63) CPDS 38.2; 2.24). G-TEP with reduced scores 49.2; 2.55) 57.2; 2.97). Objective The aim of this study was to examine the use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in online counseling for children with single-incident trauma. Method A qualitative case method employed. research conducted two volunteering their parents. sessions were transcribed by authors, code names (Ipek Eylül) assigned protect participants’ identities. İpek’s traumatic memory explored through drawing pictures tactile bilateral stimuli Eylül’s experience addressed using during EMDR therapeutic story technique. Child Revised Impact Events Scale (CRIES-8) used pre-test, post-test, follow-up testing support session descriptions. Results results indicated that post-traumatic symptoms reduced remained at a low level an extended period both clients. Conclusions It is suggested future studies should explore various stimulation methods EMDR, conduct larger-scale who have experienced different types events, investigate impact protocols on children.
