BACKGROUND Cognitive control training (CCT) has shown potential to reduce emotional vulnerability in adults and adolescents. However, there is scant literature testing the efficacy of CCT for reduction anxiety transferring effects educational outcomes children. Abstract Background Everyday affective fluctuations are more extreme and frequent in adolescence compared to any other time development. Successful regulation of these experiences is important for good mental health has been proposed depend on control. The present study examined whether improving control through a computerised training app (AffeCT) would benefit adolescent health. Methods One-hundred ninety-nine participants (11–19 years) were assigned complete 2 weeks AffeCT or placebo an app. Affective (i.e. inhibition, updating shifting), emotion assessed at pre- post-training. Mental again one month year later. Results Compared with the group, group showed significantly greater improvements trained measure. did not, relative placebo, lead better performance untrained measures Pre- post-training change covaried problems but not group. Abstract Objective This systematic review, performed in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines, seeks to summarize interventions that have been developed order improve executive functioning and attention children born prematurely. Methods The PICOS framework helped guide structure relevant terms selected for study. Electronic searches of databases PubMed (NLM), Ovid Medline, All EBM Reviews, Embase, PsycINFO were completed March 2022. review focuses on target prematurely between birth 12 years old, outcome measures assessed 3 even if age range study can exceed our own parameters. Data extraction included sample characteristics, country recruitment, type intervention, description intervention group control group, measures, overall results. An assessment quality methodology studies was through an adaptation Downs Black checklist both randomized nonrandomized healthcare interventions. risk bias also presented using Cochrane tool trials 2.0. Results A total 517 premature received at some point early adolescence. Eleven different 17 studies, rating outcomes ranging from lower (44% rating) robust (96% reporting standards, external internal validity, power. Five those focused administered neonatal intensive care unit or shortly postdischarge (e.g., Mother–Infant Transaction Program Newborn Individualized Developmental Care Assessment Program, documented two articles each [11%] Infant Behavioral Intervention one [about 5%]), while reported ages 1.5–12 old [mostly computerized cognitive training programs such as Cogmed (23%) BrainGame Brian (17%)]. Of examined, (70%) showed positive short-term postintervention (17%) demonstrated long-term results small large effect sizes (0.23–2.3). Among 50% high bias, 21.4% concerns, 28.6% low bias. Conclusions Due heterogeneity reviewed, findings should be interpreted descriptive careful individualized selection various available made based population (i.e., administration testing) before implementing these program protocols clinical settings.

The association between cognitive functioning and mental health symptoms across the lifespan remains poorly understood. Understanding directionality of cognition is important as most gold-standard psychological therapies, such cognitive-behaviour therapy, are cognitively demanding. Here, we examined affective control with depression anxiety lifespan.
