Introduction: The widespread use of the internet has brought numerous benefits, but it also raised concerns about its potential negative impact on mental health, particularly among university students. This study aims to investigate relationship between addiction (IA) and health (MH) in students, as well explore mediating effects positive psychological capital (PsyCap) this relationship. Objective: main goal was examine psychometric properties measures determine whether could negatively predict students’ mediated through PsyCap. Method: A cross-sectional design with an inferential approach employed address objective. data were collected using Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PCQ-24), Internet Addiction Scale (IAS), Keyes’ Mental Health Continuum-Short Form (MHC-SF). total sample comprised 850 students from two large public higher education institutions Ethiopia, whom 334 (39.3%) female 516 (60.7%) male, a mean age 22.32 (SD = 4.04). Several analyses performed achieve stated objectives, such Cronbach’s alpha composite reliabilities, bivariate correlation, discriminant validity, common method biases, structural equation modeling (confirmatory factor analysis, path mediation analysis). Confirmatory analysis conducted test construct validity IAS, PCQ-24, MHC-SF. Additionally, model examined corrected biased bootstrap method. Results: preliminary results found that MHC-SF excellent appropriate. Furthermore, findings demonstrate had direct effect PsyCap MH. Moreover, fully IA confirmed all scales exhibited strong internal consistency good properties. Conclusion: contributes better understanding complex interplay IA, PsyCap, MH confirming previous findings. Recommendation: findings, discussed relation recent relevant literature, will be valuable for practitioners researchers aiming improve reduce by utilizing resources protective factors

Research in Positive Psychology has indicated a correlation between Psychological Capital (PsyCap) and Mental health (MH). However, the specific contribution of Perceived Social Support (PSS) connection PsyCap MH, particularly within higher education, remains uninvestigated. This study investigated how PSS could mediate effect on students' MH using cross-sectional research design. The sample encompassed 443 undergraduate graduate students at Huazhong University Science Technology Wuhan, China. Results from Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) showed that both (β = 0.815, t 31.074, p < 0.000) 0.405, 28.051, have positive impact MH. Additionally, was identified as significant mediator relation to (b 0.080, 2.319, 0.020). emphasizes importance developing these factors educational support programs enhance well-being. Moreover, results offer conceptual practical insights for education faculty, psychologists, curriculum designers.

This research aimed to contribute the literature on internet addiction (IA) and moral development among university students. Moral potency (MP) encompasses interconnected dimensions of courage, ownership, efficacy. Studies relationships between students’ problematic behaviors (e.g., IA) cognitive processes like MP, mindfulness (MI), psychological capital (PsyCap) are scarce in educational research. Therefore, this study investigated IA, MI, PsyCap included 868 undergraduate students from a state Ethiopia, with 526 male (60.6%) 342 female (39.4%). Participants’ ages ranged 21 29 years, mean age 22.31 standard deviation 4.03. The findings indicated that IA was negatively correlated PsyCap, MP. Both MI showed positive correlations Importantly, revealed had direct negative impact Further, partially mediated fully relationship These suggest cultivating could be an important strategy reduce risks enhance their development. contributes limited complex technology use, resources, functioning emerging adulthood.

Abstract Background Although life satisfaction is a predictor of depressive and anxiety symptoms, the mechanisms underlying this association are poorly understood. This study examined how psychological capital (PsyCap), positive state, mediated between symptoms among Chinese medical students during COVID-19 pandemic. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted at three universities in China. self-administered questionnaire distributed to 583 students. Depressive satisfaction, PsyCap were measured anonymously. hierarchical linear regression analysis performed explore effects on symptoms. Asymptotic resampling strategies used examine mediates Results Life positively associated with its four components. There significant negative associations capital, resilience, optimism, Self-efficacy negatively Psychological (a×b = -0.3201, BCa 95% CI: -0.3899, -0.2446; a×b -0.2749, -0.3817, -0.1996), resilience -0.2103, -0.2727, -0.1580; -0.1871, -0.2520, -0.1414), optimism -0.2100, -0.3388, -0.1150; -0.1998, -0.3307, -0.0980), self-efficacy -0.0916, 0.0048, 0.11629; 0.1352, 0.0336, 0.2117) significantly Limitations study, causal relationships variables could not be ascertained. Introduction Previous coronavirus, 2019 (COVID-19) research has applied network analysis to examine relationships between psychopathological symptoms but rarely extended potential risk and protective factors or the influence of COVID-19 infection history. This study examined complex inter-relationships symptoms, COVID-19–related stressors, perceived social support, history among Chinese university/college students during peak fifth pandemic wave using a approach. Methods A Least Absolute Shrinkage Selection Operator–regularized partial correlation Gaussian graphical model was constructed in 1,395 Hong Kong who completed survey 15 March 3 April, 2022. Depressive, anxiety, acute/traumatic stress were measured by Patient Health Questionnaire-9, Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7, Impact Event Scale-6, respectively. stressors support measured. Network differences (COVID-network vs. no_COVID-network) communities examined. Results Our results showed that most influential nodes depressed mood, uncontrollable worries, thoughts about COVID-19. The main bridging concentration problems psychomotor problems. COVID-network, comprising participants with only, significantly stronger than no_COVID-network. Perceived from conflicts family/friends formed unique community negative cognition suicidal idea COVID-network only. Conclusion findings indicate specific interventions targeting interpersonal as well facilitating buffering effects may represent effective strategies reduce psychological distress should be considered for future preparedness.
