Abstract Organized sports are among one of the most widespread activities in youth. The purpose this study was to assess associations between youth perceptions their participation organized and mental health from perspective parents. Participants were 208 children ages 5 12 years. Children who endorsed elevated depressive symptoms scored significantly higher on YES-S Negative Experiences Scale (mean = 19.00) compared did not endorse 14.94; P < 0.01; d 0.63). After controlling for number diagnoses, there a significant positive association child self-reported (standardized beta coefficient 0.40; 0.001). Our findings underscore importance creating environments highlight value assessing both parent perspectives context participation.
