Chronic pain is a common condition with high socioeconomic and public health burden. A wide range of psychiatric conditions are often comorbid chronic conditions, negatively impacting successful treatment either condition. Objective Serving Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have screened positive for one or more mental disorders based on self-reported symptoms with substantial prevalence (i.e., 50.2%). Mental health challenges military and paramilitary populations historically been attributed to insufficient recruit screening; however, cadet when starting the Cadet Training Program (CTP) was unknown. Our objective estimate RCMP CTP test sociodemographic differences. Method Cadets completed a survey assessing ( n = 772, 72.0% male) clinical interview 736, 74.4% clinician supervised trainee using Mini-International Neuropsychiatric Interview assess current past health. Results The percentage of participants screening (15.0%) higher than diagnostic general population (10.1%); interviews, were less likely screen any disorder (6.3%) population. Neuropathic pain is a global health concern due to its severity and detrimental impact on patients' quality of life. Background: Trauma exposure is associated with adverse health-related correlates, including physical comorbidities, and highly prevalent among public safety personnel (PSP). Firefighters' perceptions of mental health can inform management. This qualitative study explored Canadian career firefighters' experiences, needs, and research priorities with respect to health. Thirty-nine firefighters (33 men, 6 women) different ranks geographic locales were interviewed using a semi-structured interview guide. The interviews recorded, transcribed, qualitatively analyzed thematic analysis within an interpretive description approach. Firefighters reported that critical incidents chronic job stressors contributed symptoms led burnout, compassion fatigue, physical injury. First responders are confronted with traumatic events in their work that has a substantial toll on psychological health and may contribute to or result posttraumatic stress injuries (PTSIs) for many responders. There is growing recognition in research and policy of a mental health crisis among Canada's paramedics; however, despite this, epidemiological surveillance the problem its infancy. Just weeks before emergence COVID-19 pandemic, we surveyed paramedics from single, large, urban paramedic service Ontario, Canada to assess for symptom clusters consistent with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety identify potential risk factors each. In total, received 589 completed surveys (97% completion rate) found that 11% screened positive PTSD, 15% one four active-duty screening any three as recently February 2020. adjusted analyses, screen varied function employment classification, gender, self-reported resilience, previous experience member service's peer support team.
