Aims:
We
assessed
the
mental
health
effects
of
Australia’s
2019–2020
bushfires
12–18
months
later,
predicting
psychological
distress
and
positive
outcomes
from
bushfire
exposure
a
range
demographic
variables,
seeking
insights
to
enhance
disaster
preparedness
resilience
planning
for
different
profiles
people.
Methods:

3083
bushfire-affected
non-affected

experiences

Abstract
There
are
massive
bodies
of
critical
sociological
research
focused
on
climate
change
or
aging,
but
less
frequently
both
at
once.
Understanding
the
intersecting
dynamics
and
aging
is
a
complex
task
that
overlaps
with
rapidly
emerging
field
gerontology.
This
entry
introduces
key
themes
within
recent
scholarship,
charts
potential
areas
for
further
research,
around
four
themes:
uneven
vulnerabilities
to
change;
support
meaningful
adaptation;
(inter)generational
grief
responsibility;
advocacy/activisms.
The
concludes
sociologists
can
play
role
in
better
understanding
which
groups
older
adults
more
risk,
what
underpins
their
vulnerabilities.
By
undertaking
centers
lived
experiences
most
vulnerable
marginalized
adults,
they
also
inform
equitable
adaptation
strategies.
In
addition,
future
could
offer
analyses
how
age
intersects
