Cadmium (Cd) is a toxic heavy metal extensively used in industrial and agricultural production. Among the main mechanisms of Cd-induced liver damage oxidative stress. Quercetin (QE) natural antioxidant. Herein, protective effect QE on hepatocyte injury was investigated. BRL-3A cells were treated with 12.5 μmol/L CdCl 2 and/or 5 for 24 h. Results showed that Cd exposure injured cells, activity antioxidant enzymes decreased cell level increased, whereas ΔΨm decreased, apoptotic genes increased. inhibited Nrf2-Keap1 pathway, Nrf2 increased Keap1 expression. Through combined action QE, activated pathway. Consequently, antioxidant-enzyme cellular alleviated, apoptosis inhibited. After Cd, NQO1 decreased. Therefore, exerted an activating pathway cells.
