Abstract Purpose To develop effective and personalized interventions, it is essential to identify the most critical processes or psychological drivers that impact an individual’s well-being. Some may be universally beneficial well-being across many contexts people, while others only certain individuals in specific contexts. Method We conducted three intensive daily diary studies, each with more than 50 within-person measurement occasions, data sets (n1 = 44; n2 37; n3 141). aimed investigate individual differences strength of associations between distinct process measures a variety outcomes. utilized unique idiographic algorithm, known as i-ARIMAX (Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average), determine relationship (Beta) outcome within (“i”). All computed betas were then subjected meta-analyses, treated “study”. Results The results revealed process-outcome links varied significantly individuals, surpassing homogeneity typically seen meta-analyses studies. Although several showed group-level effects, no was found when considered individually. For instance, involving social behavior, like being assertive, did not demonstrate any loneliness but still had significant individual-level effects from positive negative. Discussion Using might help reduce number candidate variables for complex analyses. Additionally, size pattern could prove useful guiding interventions.

Abstract This study investigates whether data from people with endometriosis (n = 58) and fibromyalgia exhibit what is called “ergodicity,” meaning that results analyses of aggregated group can be used to support conclusions about the individuals within groups. The variables studied here are commonly investigated in chronic pain: pain intensity, interference, depressive symptoms, psychological flexibility, catastrophizing. Data were collected twice daily for 42 days each participant analyzed 2 ways: as separate cross-sectional studies using timepoints sets (between-person) individual longitudinal person's time series (within person). To confirm ergodicity, should agree. However, this not was observed several respects. between-person showed substantially less variability compared within-person data. evident both summary statistics involving single correlational analyses. Overall, correlations relatively restricted range, while varied widely. These findings have potentially profound implications field research. Because ergodicity found, raises doubts around assumption groups accurately represent range experiences pain. advocate a shift toward inclusion more person-focused approaches an addition group-based approaches. could lead personalized effective treatments by better capturing then clarifying heterogeneous nature pain, including processes underlie it.

Contextual Behavioral Science (CBS) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy or Training ("ACT" in either case) are arguably entering their 5th decade of development. This paper describes features early history divides development into three phases, plus a fourth that is just beginning. In the context review, it examines what can be learned by content analysis first ∼1000 randomized controlled trials on ACT-based interventions, from 1986 through 2022. The expansive vision CBS ACT research base defined breadth as far wider than psychological intervention targeting traditional psychiatric syndromes, emphasizing instead principles, processes, components needed for more generally applicable approach. After an era scientific establishment, has expanded globally topically. Many RCTs now take place lower- middle-income countries with cultural policy environments give rise to unique priorities. Finally, based ACBS Task Force Report new findings, we suggest may personalized process-based "idionomic" forms functional analysis.

Despite the global nature of psychological issues, an overwhelming majority research originates from a small segment world's population living in high-income countries (HICs). This disparity risks distorting our understanding phenomena by underrepresenting cultural and contextual diversity human experience. Research lower- middle-income (LMIC) is also less frequently cited, both because it seemingly viewed as 'special case' well known due to language differences biases indexing algorithms. Acknowledging actively addressing this imbalance crucial for more inclusive, diverse, effective science evidence-based intervention. In State Science review, we used machine learning method identify key topics LMIC on Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), choosing ACT significant body work LMICs. We examined one indication study quality (study size), overall citations. LMICs was often non-indexed, leading lower citations, but size could not explain lack indexing. Many objectively identified became invisible when ignored. Specific exhibited potentially important topics. conclude that strong affirmative actions are needed scientific associations others ensure conducted, known, indexed, CBT researchers interested intervention science.
