The primary factors that govern the selectivity and efficacy of CO2 photoreduction are degree activation on active surface sites photocatalysts charge separation/transfer kinetics. In this context, rational synthesis heterostructured MXene-coupled CeO2-based with different loading concentrations Ti3C2MXene via a one-step hydrothermal approach has been undertaken. These exhibit shift in X-ray diffraction peaks to higher 2θ values changes stretching vibrations 5 wt % Ti3C2MXene/CeO2(5-TC/Ce) indicate interaction between CeO2. Moreover, XPS analysis confirms presence Ce3+/Ce4+ states. A sharp band at 2335 cm-1 observed during process corresponds bidentate b-CO32-, which facilitates adsorption catalyst as revealed by TPD analysis. Furthermore, Schryvers test NMR were undertaken confirm formaldehyde intermediate formation C2H5OH. decrease emission intensity, reduced lifetimes (2.68 ns), lower interfacial resistance, PL, TR-PL, EIS analysis, imply an efficient separation transfer case Ti3C2MXene/CeO2 heterojunction. intensity EPR spectrum 5-TC/Ce further kinetics across interface. optimized shows reduction drastically enhanced yield ethanol order 6127 μmol g-1 h 98% 7.54% apparent quantum efficiency, is 6-fold than produced bare Herein, CeO2 acts redox couple (Ce3+/Ce4+) when coupled MXene having metallic nature reduces electron resistance unison, enabling mobilization electrons. Thereby, synergistic coupling leads under visible light illumination.
