Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are responsible for 90% of all business 50% employment globally, mostly female jobs. Therefore, measuring SMEs' performance under the digital transformation (DT) through methods that encompass sustainability represents an essential tool reducing poverty gender inequality (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals). We aimed to describe analyze state-of-art evaluations in SMEs, mainly focusing on measurement. Also, we determine whether tools three pillars (environmental, social, economic). Through a systematic literature review (SLR), search Web Science (WoS) Scopus resulted acceptance 74 peer-reviewed papers published until December 2021. Additionally, bibliometrics investigation was executed. Although there no time restriction, oldest paper 2016, indicating DT is new research topic with increasing interest. Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic continues to pose substantial challenges achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Exploring systematic SDG strategies is urgently needed aid recovery from and reinvigorate global actions. Based on available data comprehensive analysis of literature, this paper highlights ongoing facing SDGs, identifies effects progress, proposes a framework for promoting achievement SDGs in post-pandemic era. Progress towards attaining was already lagging behind even before onset pandemic. Inequitable distribution food–energy–water resources environmental crises clearly threaten implementation. Evidently, there are gaps between vision realization actual capacity that constrain national efforts. turbulent geopolitical environment, spatial inequities, trade-offs limit effectiveness public health crisis socio-economic downturn under have further impeded progress toward SDGs. Not only has delayed advancement general, but it also amplified imbalances undermined connectivity, accentuated anti-globalization sentiment lockdowns conflicts. High rates of resource consumption and waste generation have put pressure on environmental systems one the solutions to this concerning behavior is a circular bioeconomy (CBE). However, for CBE succeed, new businesses business models are needed, which many drawbacks might be faced. Therefore, article aimed (i) identify drivers, opportunities, challenges, barriers in both from theoretical practical perspectives, (ii) present regional differences those aspects different continents. A mixed-method approach was adopted, comprising systematic literature review semi-structured interviews with 32 organizations 18 countries 4 continents (Africa, America, Australia, Europe). Eight twenty as well fifteen drivers eight opportunities were identified. The main barrier challenge pointed out by stakeholders lack financial resources/capital, price competitiveness traditional/linear product offers. most prominent driver opportunity establishment public policies/governmental support, recovery.
