Proteases (proteinases or peptidases) are a class of hydrolases that cleave peptide chains in proteins. Megasphaera hexanoica is a bacterial strain following the reverse β-oxidation pathway to synthesize caproate (CA) using lactate (LA) as an electron donor (ED) and acetate (AA) or butyrate (BA) acceptors (EA). Differences in type concentration of EA lead distinctions product distribution energy bifurcation carbon fluxes ED pathways, thereby affecting CA production. In this study, effect various ratios AA, BA, AA+BA on flux specific titer during chain elongation M. was explored. The results indicated that maximum levels were 18.81 mM 31.48 when molar LA/AA LA/BA 10:1 3:1, respectively. Meanwhile, AA BA used combined (LA, amounts 100, 23, 77 mM), production 39.45 obtained. Further analysis revealed exhibited 49 % (4.3 19.5 higher compared respectively) 45.24 mol (80.89 58.51 respectively), indicating effective utilization rate efficiency greatly improved. Finally, scaled-up experiment conducted 1.2 L (working volume) automated bioreactor, implying high biomass (optical density at 600 nm OD600 = 1.809) slight decrease (28.45 mM). A H2 (4.11 g/m3) increase CO2 (0.632 demonstrated appropriate metabolic adaptation environmental changes such stirring shear.

Electro-Fenton (EF) is a promising electrochemical technology in degrading recalcitrant organic pollutants. However, the faces problems of high energy consumption, low cathodic oxygen transfer rate and H2O2 production efficiency. Therefore, novel air-breathing gas diffusion electrode (GDE) with multiform hydrophobic layers was prepared by facile method. The GDE allows air to diffuse triphase interface spontaneously, eliminating cost aeration. Also, can greatly improve expand interfaces GDE, resulting accumulation 44.30 mg L−1 cm−2 h−1 without aeration, which 18 times higher than that virgin cathode. A 100% degradation efficiency sulfadiazine (SDZ) achieved fabricated 10 min EF system. Moreover, theoretical calculations were performed for accurately elucidating SDZ mechanism pathway.
