Quantifying the unequal supply and demand of ecosystem services (ESs) is a prerequisite for hierarchical ecological governance decisions. However, previous studies have largely overlooked scale effect spatially adjacent units role spatial compactness in shaping inequality. To address these research gaps, this study conducted survey six counties within Danjiangkou Basin China. By adopting moving window-based local Gini coefficient method, we quantified inequality ESs region, introduced refined variation to measure compactness, analyzing impact urbanization on The results indicate that region gradually intensifying. from perspective, exhibits significant heterogeneity, decreasing urban centers suburbs rural areas, while maintaining strong continuity. Furthermore, found primary factor exacerbating inequality, compact development can mitigate it. findings provide practical guidance cross-county coordination, restoration, sustainable development.

Imbalanced supplies and demands of ecosystem services (ESSD) can negatively affect human well-being. Optimizing land use patterns in cities regions is, fact, essential to mitigate this challenge ensure sustainable development. In context, the present study aims analyze supply demand food production (FPs), carbon sequestration (CSs), recreation (RSs) a typical coal resource-based city (Huainan) China. addition, main influencing factors their driving mechanisms were further explored using geographical detector (Geo-Detector) multi-scale geographic weighted regression (MGWR) models. Future changes also predicted under traditional constrained development scenarios GeoSOS-FLUS model. The obtained results indicated that: (1) comprehensive service (ES) index decreased from 1.42 0.84, while increased 0.74 0.95 during 2010–2020 period; (2) urban rural areas had spatial disparities; (3) construction, ecological, cultivated strongly impacted ES; (4) implementing effectively protect ecological land, control expansion, improve ESSD relationships Huainan City. This provides valuable theoretical foundation methodological framework for future optimization efforts, as well enhancing sustainability mitigating imbalance between services.

Understanding the patterns, relationships, and driving forces between ecosystem services (ESs) supply–demand at multiple spatial scales can facilitate sustainable hierarchical management. However, scale effects of ESs mismatches were typically ignored, resulting in inadequate targeted promotion policies. This study identified key (grain production, water yield, carbon sequestration, soil conservation) using ecological ratio bivariate Moran's I three grid county from 2000 to 2020 Hubei Province, China. Then regression models applied explore these mismatches. The major results revealed that (1) Province counties located away urban areas self-sufficient supply–demand, but numbers declined over twenty years. characteristics some patches may be obscured coarser scales. (2) directions socioecological drivers robust, their intensities changed significantly four normalized difference vegetation index was primary positive driver fine scale, while population, economy, proportion construction land became dominant Factors influencing more diverse compared coarse scale. (3) Efficient strategies scale-dependent place-based. Different management units should clarify responsibilities strengthen linkages upper lower levels achieve development. At provincial level, strengthening interregional cooperation allocating surplus grain resources southwest regions contributes balancing regional ESs. adopting region-specific based on delineating zones is crucial. finer levels, incorporating micro-scale mismatch locations natural background information provide valuable guidance for localized protection restoration projects. findings underscore strengths conducting assessments scales, enabling different government enhance effective prevent misinformation.

For mankind's survival and development, water, energy, food (WEF) are essential material guarantees. In China, however, the spatial distribution of WEF is seriously unbalanced mismatched. Here, a collaborative governance mechanism that aims at nexus security needs to be urgently established. this paper, Yellow River Basin in China with representative system, was selected as case. Firstly, comprehensive framework for coupling coordination constructed, relationship between them were analyzed theoretically. Then, we investigated spatiotemporal characteristics driving mechanisms degree (CCD) composite evaluation method, model, statistical analysis, multiscale geographic weighted regression. Finally, policy implications discussed promote coordinated development system. The results showed that: 1) subsystems significant imbalance pattern diversity temporal changes; 2) CCD system varied little remained moderate coordination. Areas have increased, while areas superior mild disorder decreased. addition, clustering phenomenon obvious polarization; 3) action each factor self-differentiated regionally variable. different factors, GDP per capita particular importance, which contributed most regional development's regions, capita, average yearly precipitation, population density, urbanization rate exhibited differences geographical gradients an east-west direction. conclusion can provide references resource allocation sustainable by enhancing utilization efficiency.
