Stretch denim is an exclusive and stylish textile made with elastic core-spun yarns. It has gained substantial traction for offering essential elasticity resilience to the garments while retaining a snug fit comfort when worn. Denim produced from coarser cotton yarns necessitating significant quantity of fiber. Owing escalating costs harmful environmental impacts associated its cultivation, it imperative explore alternative fibers denim. Herein, very first time, expedient technique manufacturing utilizing recycled investigated. Recycled fibers, in range 10–60 %, extracted pre-consumer fabric waste were blended virgin spun into 16 Ne (36.9 Tex) To address challenges posed by lower spinnability attributed fiber length, uniformity index, higher short content, compact spinning system featuring novel pin spacer was used. This combination effectively improved control within drafting zone, enabling maximum incorporation cotton, up 60 yarn. The exhibited significantly unevenness, imperfections, hairiness along strength elongation that fell top 5 %–50 % ranking Uster Statistics 2023. core yarn, even containing fiber, demonstrated suitability use as weft yarn commercial high-speed air-jet loom operating at 950 rpm (equivalent speed 94 km/h or 1577 m/min). production incorporating represents innovative concept advance sustainable development goal (SDG) 12. initiative aims reduce proportional demand cultivation subsequent processing, thereby making contributions preservation on various fronts. Textile industries are now focusing on sustainable issues in manufacturing operations to save the environment. The study focuses use of cotton fibers (recycled) sourced from fabric (knitted) waste (pre-consumer) manufacture elastic yarn (dual-core) for denim fabric. involves production yarns using a redesigned ring spinning method with different elastomeric components, including T400® (Polyethylene terephthalate)/Polytrimethylene terephthalate), Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), Polyester (PES), Lycra® (elastane), virgin and fiber. investigates various (Ne 18/1) characteristics such as strength, IPI (imperfection index), elongation %, unevenness hairiness. It is noticed that strength recycled (double core) lower (Imperfection hairiness values higher than 100 % (virgin) core). One-way ANOVA (statistical analysis) employed assess significance differences among manufactured core materials found significant variation all characteristics. Additionally, article introduces MOORA (multi-objective optimization based ratio technique decision-making tool determine best three alternatives (PES yarn, PBT T400 yarn) their properties, considering attributes finding filament containing option. approach employs tools rank performance alternatives.
