The gradual opening of the Arctic shipping route has made navigation possible. However, harm caused by ship exhaust emissions is increasingly severe. Therefore, it necessary to study diffusion characteristics plumes during navigation. focuses on a merchant vessel as subject investigation, employing computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation techniques analyze particulate matter (PM) within under environmental conditions. law plume PM clarified, and influence three factors, synthetic wind speed, yaw angle chimney angle, analyzed. It was found that after discharged from chimney, majority dispersed directly backward along with external flow field, while minor fraction lingered at stern for an extended period before eventually diffusing backward. Among them, 1235 particles were captured range 200 m stern, capture rate 0.6%. When shows in interval increases rapidly increase other factors have less PM. This provides foundational guidance predicting environments, thereby enabling more effective strategies managing such emissions.

Vessel traffic is an important source of global greenhouse gas emissions. The carbon emissions from ships in the canal network are directly linked to environmental performance China’s inland waterway transportation, contributing achievement reduction goals. Therefore, systematically assessing emission levels networks essential provide a robust foundation for developing more scientific and feasible strategies. To address limitations current evaluations—which often focus on single dimension lack objective, quantitative representation mechanisms driving their synergistic effects—this study took comprehensive approach. First, considering factors influencing ship strategies, evaluation index system was developed. This included 6 first-level indexes 22 s-level indexes, covering aspects such as energy utilization, technical equipment, economic benefits. Second, novel combination methods used construct model. Qualitative weights, determined through interval binary semantic method, were integrated with weights calculated using CRITIC method. These then combined assigned game-theory-based assignment resulting model, built upon theory matter-element topology, represents significant methodological innovation. Finally, method applied empirical analysis operating Jiangsu section Beijing–Hangzhou Grand Canal. application demonstrated model’s specificity feasibility. study’s findings valuable insights improving advancing sustainable development shipping industry.
