Gemcitabine (GEM) is a chemotherapeutic drug widely used for treating pancreatic cancer and other cancers. Despite its efficacy, GEM associated with adverse side effects tumor resistance, hampering therapeutic outcomes. To address these challenges, innovative strategies have emerged to enhance delivery. This comprehensive review explores various distribution systems, including polymer-based platforms, liposomes, inorganic nanoparticles, highlighting their unique characteristics improving efficacy in treatment. Additionally, we discuss the promising approach of codelivery genes present several methods augmenting GEM's properties. Our findings shed light on novel insights provide recommendations overcoming limitations GEM, guiding researchers clinicians toward more effective therapies.
