Over the decades, economic development and population growth have directly influenced production of effluents contaminated by potentially toxic metals, which, , contaminate soil, subsoil, groundwater if released into environment. Metals are persistent pollutants can bioaccumulate in plant tissues human body, thus causing disturbances diseases. Methodologies based on physical-chemical methods such as ion exchange, membrane filtration, electrocoagulation examples techniques adopted treatment effluents. However, these methodologies some disadvantages, a high implementation cost, secondary residue, little effectiveness at low metallic concentrations. Biological emerges promising, eco-friendly, low-cost alternative for using various biomasses agro-industrial waste, microorganisms, animal parts. Microalgae biotechnology is hampered by the high production costs and massive usage of water during large-volume cultivations. These drawbacks can be softened high-value compounds adopting metabolic engineering strategies to improve their performances productivity. Today, most sustainable approach exploitation industrial wastewaters for microalgae cultivation, which couples valuable biomass with resource recovery. Among food processing sectors, dairy industry generates largest volume through manufacturing process. effluents are typically rich in dissolved organic matter nutrients, make it a challenging expensive waste stream companies manage. Nevertheless, these represent an appealing microalgal biotechnology. In this study, we propose compound from cyanobacteria. This strategy based on metabolically engineered strain model cyanobacterium Synechococcus elongatus PCC 7942 (already published elsewhere) 2-phenylethanol (2-PE). 2-PE aromatic that widely employed as fragrance cosmetics thanks its pleasant floral scent. First, qualitatively assessed impact four cyanobacterial growth identify promising substrates. Both tank-washing liquid effluent exhausted sludge resulted suitable nutrient sources.
