Abstract Human existence and societal growth are both dependent on the availability of clean fresh water. Photocatalysis is a type artificial photosynthesis that uses environmentally friendly, long-lasting materials to address energy environmental issues. There currently considerable demand for low-cost, high-performance wastewater treatment equipment. By changing structure, size, characteristics nanomaterials, use nanotechnology in field water filtration has evolved dramatically. Semiconductor-assisted photocatalysis recently advanced become among most promising techniques fields sustainable generation ecological cleanup. It beneficial, cost-effective, strictly linked zero waste discharge principle used industrial effluent treatment. Owing reduction or removal created unwanted byproducts, green synthesis photoactive nanomaterial more beneficial than chemical approaches. Semiconductor-based photocatalytic reactions are a practical class of advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) to address energy scarcity and environmental pollution. By utilizing solar as clean, abundant, renewable source, this process offers numerous advantages, including high efficiency, eco-friendliness, low cost. In review, we present several methods construct various photocatalyst systems with excellent visible light absorption efficient charge carrier separation ability through the optimization materials design reaction conditions. Groundwater is an important source for drinking water supply, agricultural irrigation and industrial uses in the Middle East North Africa region. Due to growing need groundwater use, quality studies on presence of contaminants emerging concern (CECs) pesticides have gained attention. The Wadi El Bey one most polluted areas Tunisia. However, very limited data CECs infiltration into aquifers has been described, comparison industrialized countries where contamination comprehensively addressed.
