The utilization of biochar-catalyzed peroxymonosulfate in advanced oxidation processes (BC-PMS AOPs) is widely acknowledged as an effective and economical method for mitigating emerging contaminants (ECs). Especially, state-of-the-art machine learning (ML) technology has been employed to accurately predict the reaction rate constants EC degradation BC-PMS AOPs, primarily focusing on three aspects: performance prediction, operating condition optimization, mechanism interpretation. However, its real application specific optimization targeting different ECs seldom considered, hindering realization contaminant-oriented AOPs. Herein, we propose a hierarchical ML pipeline achieve end-to-end (E2E) pattern addressing this issue. First, overall XGB model, trained with comprehensive data set, can perform well predicting additionally providing basis further analysis various ECs. Then, submodels clusters offer strategies selection optimum option AOPs HOMO-LUMO gaps, thus forming E2E This study not only increases our understanding but also successfully bridges gap between model development environmental application.

Pharmaceuticals, recognized for their life-saving potential, have emerged as a concerning class of micropollutants in the environment. Even at minute concentrations, chronic exposure poses significant threat to ecosystems. Various pharmaceutically active (PhAMP), including antibiotics, analgesics, and hormones, been detected underground waters, surface seawater, sewage treatment plants, soils, activated sludges due absence standardized regulations on pharmaceutical discharge. Prolonged exposureof hospital waste facilities is linked presence antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Conventional water methods prove ineffective, prompting use alternative techniques like photolysis, reverse osmosis, UV-degradation, bio-degradation, nano-filtration. However, commercial implementation faces challenges such incomplete removal, toxic sludge generation, high costs, need skilled personnel. Research gaps include comprehensively identify understand various types micropollutants, investigate long-term ecological impact, develop more sensitive monitoring techniques, explore integrated approaches. Additionally, there gap understanding socio-economic implications pollution efficacy public awareness campaigns. Future research should delve into strategies phagotherapy, vaccines, natural substance substitutes address escalating pollution.

Abstract A simple two step hydrothermal method is developed for synthesizing p ‐type zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorods surface modified with nitrogen doped silicon dioxide dots (ZnO/N‐SiO 2 ). The structure, morphology, and chemical compositions are confirmed by X‐ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, Fourier transformed infrared photoelectron transmission electron microscopy, Mott‐Schottky studies. The early-life stage (ELS) toxicity syndrome for fish is well described and has been reported in hundreds of studies. It generally characterized by a reduced heart rate, yolk sac pericardial edemas, various morphological abnormalities, the most common being spinal curvature. For many those studies, it appears that ELS result nonspecific (baseline) occurs at aqueous whole-body concentrations are just below lethal concentrations. Baseline essentially response results from chemicals accumulating disturbing function biological membranes leads to lethality sublethal effects relatively high doses. commonality this acute among highly diverse organic inorganic remarkable. important identify baseline because considered minimal acts all tissues cells, potential impair cellular functions. This means if an effect observed around baseline-toxic concentrations, likely other functions also affected (i.e., not specific). can be specific involving receptor interactions; therefore, we emphasize importance distinguishing between responses provide relevant data environmental risk assessment.
