Balancing supply and demand in Nature-based Recreation (NbR) has the potential to yield co-benefits across multiple Ecosystem Services (ES), helping make tourism activities more sustainable. However, a comprehensive understanding of supply-demand mismatches NbR is challenging due complex interaction among various social, economic ecological factors. This paper investigates provide insights for informing spatial regional planning achieve sustainable tourism. To this end, uses wide range indicators such as biophysical attributes, accessibility social map assess demand, followed by application statistics analyse mismatches. Cluster analysis was performed based on relationship identify typology ES study area north Iran. The proposes an innovative recreation bundles with implications region marked hot spot generated five differing recreational opportunities. Bundles 1 2, characterized surplus substantial value, are suitable camping, hiking, climbing, birdwatching. In contrast, bundle 4 5 associated urban centres, experience deficit, making them less NbR. Bundle 3, mixture natural productive lands, plays important role maintaining balanced state. holds diverse forms tourism, including rural agricultural farm tours life experiences. Based findings, provides valuable proposing targeted strategies sustainably manage activities.

Understanding aspects of maritime/underwater cultural heritage (MUCH) and the associated values integrating them into maritime spatial planning (MSP) processes is a new global challenge alongside rapid increase in human activities at sea climate change impacts on seas oceans. This article highlights significance shaping interactions with marine environments how MSP can address dimensions resources management. The key research question addresses prerequisites methods for better incorporation MUCH processes. review revealed diversity literature addressing inclusion (a) coastal management but also (b) marine/maritime (346 articles from Scopus database). In first case, there strong focus ecosystem services (CES) values, role indigenous local communities, transfer traditional ecological knowledge, participatory approaches tools. As latter, this demonstrated quite lot relatively recent endeavors that seem to be influenced by above identified literature. concludes MSPlans innovative mainly acceptable “missing layer” socio-cultural data indispensable. Furthermore, collaborative between governments regional/provincial authorities may boost sustainable blue while preserving values.

Assessment and mapping of coastal habitat quality are critical for integrated zone management. However, in the zone, characterized as a terrestrial-marine continuum, few studies have incorporated land-sea connections while predicting habitats. In this study, we propose novel framework that integrates an ecosystem service assessment model global classification, within framework, cross-system threats from both ocean- land-based human activities were considered. On basis, by linking threat sources with management policy scenarios, prediction across land sea was realized. Xiamen Bay, typical intensively developed bay Southeast China, used case study. Thirteen types 12 identified upland/supratidal, intertidal, subtidal zones Bay. Each affected habitats at least two subdivisions. The results showed 2030, 26.9% total area is expected to decline quality, 16.9% will improve. Intertidal especially vulnerable multiple threats. Our study revealed strong negative correlation between intensity changes. Eight be changed five policies, six potential beneficiaries. Overall, local strategies contribute enhance intertidal habitats, whereas upland/supratidal anticipated experience decline. tourism development may impacts on all 13 cover largest area, aquaculture regulation yield greatest benefits. We prevalent making it possible policies impacts. tool herein can support continuum facilitate effective decision-making.

Socio-cultural dimensions and values in maritime spatial planning (MSP) are gaining momentum worldwide especially the European Union (EU), since it is acknowledged that they “missing layer” of plans (MSPlans). These partly explored through cultural ecosystem services (CES). Coastal marine CES refer to benefits humans derive from coastal environments recreational, artistic, spiritual, educational terms. They reflect ways which ecosystems contribute human well-being, identity, interactions with nature. The research question how map assess coastal/marine integrate them MSPlans. Thus, this systematic review sheds light on methodological technical issues mapping assessment provides guidance incorporate MSP for future research. Publications dealing aspects were examined an extra focus participatory approaches. Initially, 199 articles identified, 50 ultimately eligible analysis. Papers concentrated Atlantic, whilst their scope was either local or regional. A large number consider contribution efficient management rather than achieving integrated coordinated MSP. Social mixed approaches met most often, Also, non-monetary valuation prevailing, a multitude techniques, tools, statistical software used. In cases, distribution relation environmental, socio-economic, demographic factors examined. This article concludes effective integration into crucial creating prospects more sustainable inclusive approach well-being communities both currently generations. knowledge should become “property” planners.

Cultural ecosystem services (CES) based on nature experiences substantially contribute to public health and human well-being. However, CES’s supply-demand methodology remains scarcely explored the coastal beach, demand relating preferences has not been sufficiently unveiled in spatial assessment. Here, we selected recreation as a lens of CES applied knowledge multi-source big data better reflect preferences. Point Interests (POIs) refer particularly valuable or interesting places. We proposed integrate POIs social media (Weibo check-in) quantify for beach (BRS). also used socio-ecological indicators BRS’s supply. The balance BRS was further identified by quadrant analysis coupling coordination degree. Our typical zone, Shenzhen Dapeng New District, Greater Bay Area China. Over 80% beaches study area exhibited an imbalanced barely balanced services. found that density had significant influence BRS. Multi-source (POIs Weibo provided efficient, low-cost, across-scale approach preference mapping than traditional questionnaire surveys. framework can identify with support sustainable management. Coastal management prioritizes only waste prevention sufficient safety signs but proper infrastructure development sustainably well-being experiences.

The concept of ecosystem services and their valuation has gained significant attention in recent years due to the profound interdependence interconnectedness between humans ecosystems. As several studies on forest have stressed human-nature interactions lately, research study area, environmental conditions shows rapid changes while human pressures forests intensify. Thus, questions are as follows: (i) what monetary non-monetary value provided by Piatra Craiului National Park (ii) relationship with other variables, focusing identifying differences resemblances each approach. R PASTECS package was utilized analyze primary statistical indicators for both values, revealing variability results (s% 141% s% 62%). Both assessments were computed at management unit level data used Forest Management plans photograph analysis which services. correlation nature culture assessed through social-media based method, highly known stimulate participant engagement quantitative computation PCA method visualization. highlighted that, terms, minimum identified €34 maximum exceeded €570,000 values ranged from 1 5 (kernel score). reveals a substantial types valuations. Strong associations certain variables (monetary carbon stock stand volume), moderate connections (slope productivity), weaker relationships (non-monetary altitude, age slope, type flora altitude productivity) revealed. findings valuable insights policymakers, land managers, stakeholders involved natural resource conservation, emphasizing importance considering economic non-economic benefits decision-making processes. integrated approach this how we can better assess mixed services, contributing ongoing actions raising awareness social responsibility.
