Soil heavy metal contamination poses critical challenges to ecological sustainability in mining regions, particularly acidic soils from copper sulfide mines. This study developed a sustainable remediation strategy using carbonyl iron powder–biochar composite (CIP@BC) derived agricultural waste (rice husk) and industrial byproducts. The was synthesized through an energy-efficient mechanical grinding method at 10:1 mass ratio of biochar powder, aligning with circular economy principles. Material characterization revealed CIP particles uniformly embedded within biochar’s porous structure, synergistically enhancing surface functionality redox activity. CIP@BC demonstrated exceptional Cu2+ immobilization capacity (910.5 mg·g−1), achieved chemisorption monolayer adsorption mechanisms. Notably, the process concurrently improved key soil health parameters. incubation trials that 6% application elevated pH 4.27 6.19, reduced total Cu content by 29.43%, decreased DTPA-extractable 67.26%. treatment effectively transformed speciation bioavailable residual fractions. Concurrent improvements electrical conductivity (EC), cation exchange (CEC), organic matter (OM), water (SWC) collectively highlighted composite’s multifunctional potential. bridges environmental land management innovative waste-to-resource approach remediates mine soils. dual contaminant quality restoration provides scalable solution.
