Biofilms,
complex
microbial
communities,
adept
at
forming
on
diverse
surfaces
within
environments,
such
as
membrane
technologies,
ship
hulls,
medical
devices,
and
clinical
infections,
pose
persistent
challenges.
While
various
biofilm
prevention
methods,
including
antimicrobial
coatings,
physical
barriers,
bacteriophage
utilization,
have
been
devised
for
engineered
systems,
their
efficacy
fluctuates
based
application
type
species.
Consequently,
there
remains
a
pressing
need
the
development
of
highly
targeted
efficient
control
strategies
tailored
to
specific
applications
need.
In
our
investigation,
we
disrupt
cell-to-cell
communication
in
Pseudomonas
aeruginosa
through
anti-quorum
sensing
(anti-QS)
furanone
C-30
molecules.
The
incorporation
these
molecules
onto
electrospun
yielded
substantial
reductions
69%
petri
dish
assays
58%
mixed
cellulose
ester
(MCE)
membranes
dead-end
nanofiltration
system,
showcasing
potent
anti-biofouling
impact.
Notably,
functionalization
MCE
with
anti-QS
resulted
remarkable
16.7%
improvement
filtration
output.
These
findings
underscore
potential
this
approach
mitigate
formation,
offering
technical
foundation
advancing
ongoing
pursuit
effective
application-specific
measures.

The
widespread
use
of
antibiotics
has
led
to
the
emergence
a
large
number
drug-resistant
bacteria,
accelerating
dissemination
and
spread
antibiotic
resistance
genes
(ARGs)
in
environment.
Bacterial
biofilms,
serving
as
reservoirs
ARGs,
pose
potential
risks
environmental
health
that
should
not
be
ignored.
Studies
on
presence
transfer
ARGs
biofilms
have
been
conducted
both
domestically
internationally.
This
article
summarises
research
progress
various
environments
analyses
mechanisms
factors
influencing
microplastics,
activated
sludge,
pipe
wall
with
particular
focus
phage-mediated
ARG
transfer.
We
also
discuss
current
gaps
this
field
provide
references
for
future
biofilm
management
risk
control
ARGs.

Quorum
quenching
(QQ)
by
bacterial
strains

demonstrated
to
be
a
cost-efficient
approach
for
biofouling
control
in
an
anaerobic
membrane
bioreactor
(AnMBR).

this
study,
facultative
QQ
consortium
was
screened
and
encapsulated

wastewater
treatment.
