Microplastics (MPs) as hazardous contaminants has drawn the rapid attention of general public due to their omnipresence and adverse impacts on ecosystems human health. Despite this, understanding MPs contamination levels in estuarine along Bay Bengal coast remains very limited. This research focused presence, spatial distribution, morpho-chemical characteristics ecological implications water sediment from five key estuaries (Meghna, Karnaphuli, Matamuhuri, Bakkhali, Naf rivers) within delta. Out estuaries, Meghna exhibited least amount both surface (150.00 ± 65.62 items/m3) (30.56 9.34 items/kg). Annually, the Mediterranean region attracts around one-third of global coastal tourism, which is acknowledged as a substantial contributor to plastic pollution. Coastal municipalities mitigate this through periodic sand and shore cleaning. However, efficacy these measures remains uncertain. Microplastics (MPs), an emerging pollutant, have drawn attention on a global scale and been found in various ecosystems. Nevertheless, there is currently lack of information regarding the contamination levels MPs aquaculture ponds worldwide. In this study, sediment water samples were collected from five types fish ponds, namely, homestead (S1), commercial (S2), near residential area (S3), small-scale industrial (S4), large-scale (S5), to identify, characterize, assess risk MPs.
