Microplastics (MPs) as hazardous contaminants has drawn the rapid attention of general public due to their omnipresence and adverse impacts on ecosystems human health. Despite this, understanding MPs contamination levels in estuarine along Bay Bengal coast remains very limited. This research focused presence, spatial distribution, morpho-chemical characteristics ecological implications water sediment from five key estuaries (Meghna, Karnaphuli, Matamuhuri, Bakkhali, Naf rivers) within delta. Microplastics (MPs), an emerging pollutant, have drawn attention on a global scale and been found in various ecosystems. Nevertheless, there is currently lack of information regarding the contamination levels MPs aquaculture ponds worldwide. In this study, sediment water samples were collected from five types fish ponds, namely, homestead (S1), commercial (S2), near residential area (S3), small-scale industrial (S4), large-scale (S5), to identify, characterize, assess risk MPs. The accumulation of microplastics (MPs) in estuarine regions and their ecological consequences have become global environmental concerns. Estuarine sediments function as major sinks for MPs hotspots critical biogeochemical processes, which are significantly influenced by benthic bioturbation. However, the impacts on behavior highly mobile organisms effects bioturbation activities remain poorly understood. This study utilized laboratory simulation experiments, AI-based behavioral tracking, metagenomic sequencing to systematically examine sand crab migration, sediment physicochemical properties sulfur cycling processes.
