Abstract The rapid expansion of the digital economy has garnered significant attention because its potential to drive high-quality advancement in traditional sectors, particularly manufacturing. This study examines spatial dynamics and disparities between green total factor productivity (GTFP) China’s manufacturing sector. We utilize a novel set indicators assess during Chinese provinces apply econometric models investigate influence on GTFP. main research content conclusions this are as follows. (1) By employing index system quantify economy’s level within sector across various China, utilizing it primary explanatory variable, demonstrates efficacy empirical analysis is both scientifically robust methodologically sound. (2) Using Dubin model, analyzes effects GTFP finds that dominant positive spillover effect industry nationwide. (3) results show have eastern central area, whereas negative western area. extends applicability new economic geography imperfect competition theories era, thereby contributing these academic fields. This study explores the influence of Digital Economy (DE) on Energy Trilemma (ET) across Chinese cities from 2008 to 2021. Leveraging an extensive panel dataset encompassing 276 cities, we constructed a city-level ET index, categorized using k-means clustering, and employed IV-GMM regression scrutinize impact DE. Our findings reveal that DE is instrumental in tackling issues, with significant variations attributed city-specific attributes, including centralized heating systems complexity urban terrain. The mediation analysis pinpoints optimization industrial structures, technological progress, attraction foreign investment as key conduits through which exerts its ET. These insights highlight pivotal role essential instrument for bolstering sustainable energy frameworks. They also emphasize necessity digital economy policies effectively address unique challenges faced by each municipality. Additionally, underscores positive openness sector strategy confronting challenges.
