Sustainable recycling of carbon resources from waste-activated sludge (WAS) is essential for advancing the circular wastewater economy. Anaerobic fermentation provides an eco-efficient pathway converting organic matter into volatile fatty acids (VFAs). In this study, Fe-N modified biochar was innovatively prepared WAS acetic acid yield enhancement, and system realized closure material cycle. Results show that adding Fe-N-modified (made under conditions 0.2M FeCl3 10 g/L urea) led to a 38.8% increase in (1745 mg/L) 5.7% its percentage (60.5%) compared control. It also improved hydrolysis hydrolase activity. addition, increased relative abundance Chloroflexi, Actinobacteria, Bacteroidetes, among which Chloroflexi electro-active microorganism promotes transformation propionic butyric acid, while Bacteroidetes primary responsible VFA production. summary, may serve as effective promoting production during anaerobic WAS.
