During the COVID-19 pandemic, several observational studies proved a certain efficacy of nutraceuticals, herbal products, and other dietary supplements as adjuvant therapies used alongside antiviral drugs. Although their use has not been widespread in Italy, according to preliminary evidence, many with demonstrated immunomodulatory effects, such vitamins C D, medicines essential oils, might relieve respiratory symptoms COVID-19, since SARS-CoV-2 can activate inflammasome-mediated inflammatory signaling pathways. Other have shown that treatments, Echinacea purpurea ginseng, help alleviate reduce serum levels cytokines, which are typically overexpressed both adult pediatric patients. Further, D attenuate immune response thanks cytokine suppression ability known antimicrobial activity potential modulate T helper cell response. The strong triggered by infection is responsible for severity disease. Preliminary data also L-arginine, an endothelial-derived relaxing factor, able endothelial damage, appears be one main targets this systemic Finally, some oils isolated compounds, eucalyptol, may helpful reducing although others, menthol, recommended, it lead undervaluation clinical status patient. In narrative review, despite lack evidence field, we aimed give overview current available literature (mainly cross-sectional studies) regarding products treatment mild disease from infection. Obviously, do constitute standardized disease, but they could represent adjunctive useful when together antivirals.

Abstract The NLR family pyrin domain‐containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome is a vital part of the innate immune response, whilst its aberrant activation drives progression several noncommunicable diseases. It induces caspase‐1 and downstream substrates involved with processing secretion pro‐inflammatory cytokines IL‐1β IL‐18 TNF‐α. Activation this complex often involves adapter ASC upstream sensors including NLRP1, NLRP3, NLRC4, AIM2, pyrin, which are activated by different stimuli infectious agents changes in cell homeostasis, play key roles inflammation, development, related death. However, molecular mechanisms that integrate multiple to facilitate optimal host defense remain unknown; therefore, treatment challenging. Natural medicine small molecule‐based therapies have been well‐documented for their effectiveness modulating inflammatory pathways reestablishing lost proteostasis inside cells combat chronic diseases inflammation. Traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) potent clinical effects against NLRP3 could be used as complementary therapy. Therefore, review summarizes various similar reports highlights important nutraceuticals bioactive compounds derived from medicinal plants on possible action. Thus, TCM prescriptions, herbs, can considered novel, practical, accessible inhibiting activation.

ABSTRACT Background The COVID‐19 pandemic has left an indelible mark on the world, with mounting evidence suggesting that it not only posed acute challenges to global healthcare systems but also unveiled a complex array of long‐term consequences, particularly cognitive impairment (CI). As persistence post‐COVID‐19 neurological syndrome could evolve into next public health crisis, is imperative gain better understanding intricate pathophysiology CI in patients and viable treatment strategies. Methods This comprehensive review explores management across phases COVID‐19, from infection Long‐COVID, by synthesizing findings clinical, preclinical, mechanistic studies identify key contributors CI, as well current therapeutic approaches. Results Key mechanisms contributing include persistent neuroinflammation, cerebrovascular complications, direct neuronal injury, activation kynurenine pathway, psychological distress. Both pharmacological interventions, such anti‐inflammatory therapies agents targeting neuroinflammatory pathways, non‐pharmacological strategies, including rehabilitation, show promise addressing these challenges. Although much derived preclinical animal studies, provide foundational insights potential Conclusion By knowledge, this highlights importance COVID‐19‐related offers actionable for mitigation recovery community continues grapple pandemic's impact.

More than 700 million confirmed cases of Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19) have been reported globally, and 10–60% patients are expected to exhibit "post-COVID-19 symptoms," which will continue affect human life health. In the absence safer, more specific drugs, current multiple immunotherapies failed achieve satisfactory efficacy. Ginseng, a traditional Chinese medicine, is often used as an immunomodulator has in COVID-19 treatment tonic increase blood oxygen saturation. Ginsenosides main active components ginseng. this review, we summarize ways ginsenosides post-COVID-19 symptoms, including inhibition lipopolysaccharide, tumor necrosis factor signaling, modulation chemokine receptors inflammasome activation, induction macrophage polarization, effects on Toll-like receptors, nuclear kappa-B, mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway, lymphocytes, intestinal flora, epigenetic regulation. virus-mediated tissue damage, local or systemic inflammation, immune modulation, other links, thus alleviating respiratory pulmonary reducing cardiac burden, protecting nervous system, providing new ideas for rehabilitation with symptoms. Furthermore, analyzed its role strengthening body resistance eliminate pathogenic factors from perspective ginseng-epidemic disease highlighted challenges clinical applications. However, benefit modulating organismal imbalance needs be further evaluated better validate pharmacological mechanisms associated their efficacy determine individualized therapy.

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the critical need for effective antiviral therapies, as viral infections remain a leading cause of mortality worldwide. Natural compounds, especially those derived from plants, have been recognized their therapeutic properties. Ginseng, in particular, attracted considerable attention its potential effects. This review examines compounds ginseng that act against various human pathogenic viruses. We systematically summarize activities targeting range viruses, including rhinovirus (HRV), influenza virus, immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis viruses A, B, and C (HAV, HBV, HCV), herpes simplex (HSV), enterovirus 71 (EV71), coxsackievirus, norovirus, SARS-CoV-2, responsible COVID-19. covers Panax ginseng, P. notoginseng, quinquefolius, discussing mechanisms action potential. analysis incorporates literature February 2002 through August 2024, providing comprehensive overview existing evidence on properties ginseng. aims to underscore scientific basis developing an agent or nutraceutical.
