Airborne microplastic (NP) and nanoplastic (MP) pollution has emerged as a pressing environmental concern with significant implications for human health. While MPs are present both indoors outdoors, indoor concentrations generally higher due to the abrasion of household materials, furniture, other domestic sources. NPs, when inhaled, accumulate in various lung regions, exerting toxic effects potentially leading respiratory diseases. This systematic review, conducted according PRISMA guidelines, evaluates recent experimental studies on pathogenic impact nanomicroplastics (NMPs) tissues using vivo vitro models. The review included 10 analyzing MP accumulation 90 examining pathogenetic mechanisms exposure. Research data indicates predominance polymeric fibers such polypropylene, polyethylene terephthalate, polytetrafluoroethylene, accounting nearly half structures. NMPs exhibit size- composition-dependent accumulation, smaller positively charged particles showing translocation potential systemic circulation organs. highlights synergistic heavy metals pollutants, interaction pulmonary surfactant, role exacerbating Current analysis underscores growing interest NMP-related health risks identifies knowledge gaps, including need standardization NMP toxicity testing further exploration biological systems. findings emphasize importance mitigating exposure safeguard pave way future research long-term impacts airborne

Abstract The rise of food delivery culture has resulted in millions tons food-contact plastic containers being used each year, yet the risks micro(nano)plastics (MNPs) released during storage oil-rich foods are still not well understood. Here, we investigated MNP release from polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE)-coated under simulated takeout scenarios. When exposed to cooking oil microwave heating, up 125-fold more MNPs 471-fold heavy metals compared water exposure, with significantly altered physicochemical properties. Oil-derived PP NPs, uniquely encapsulated films positive surface charge (+7.37 mV). oil-derived NPs may enhance their interaction negatively charged cell membranes, leading rapid death within 5 minutes at a concentration 100 μg/mL through membrane disruption. Transcriptomic analysis revealed that oil-PP triggered substantially extensive gene expression changes than water-derived particularly pathways related acute cellular stress mitochondrial energy metabolism. Global exposure assessments highlight annual human intake 3.35 g food. Based on integrated molecular endpoints, established benchmark dose lower limit (BMDL) 1.18 for NPs. abundance biological samples exceeds BMDL thresholds, suggesting significant health risks. Our findings reveal previously unknown mechanisms toxicity underscore urgent need stricter regulation packaging foods.

Microplastics and nanoplastics (MPs/NPs) are ubiquitous environmental pollutants that act as endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), raising significant concerns about their impact on human health. Research highlights the hazardous effects of MPs/NPs both male female reproductive systems, influencing germ cells, embryo development, progeny. Additionally, studies show affect gene expression anabolic steroid hormones in vitro vivo, inducing toxicity through mechanisms such oxidative stress inflammation. Considering these adverse effects, identifying natural compounds can mitigate is increasingly important. Plants offer a wealth antioxidants anti-inflammatory counteract harmful effects. Among these, anthocyanins, colorants responsible for vibrant hues fruits flowers, exhibit wide range biological activities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-neoplastic properties. Moreover, anthocyanins modulate sex hormone levels alleviate toxicity. Cyanidin-3-glucoside (C3G), one most extensively studied shows promise reducing toxicity, particularly females, protecting organs, testis epididymis. This protective effect believed to result from its interaction with receptors, specifically androgen estrogen receptors (ERs). These findings highlight need explore by which caused MPs/NPs. review provides novel insights into how be leveraged lessen contaminants health, especially concerning
