Liver steatosis without alcohol consumption, namely, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), is a common hepatic condition that encompasses wide spectrum of presentations, ranging from simple accumulation triglycerides in the hepatocytes any damage to inflammation, necrosis, ballooning, and fibrosis (namely, steatohepatitis) up severe eventually cirrhosis and/or hepatocellular carcinoma. Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) remain as one of the most global problematic metabolic diseases with rapidly increasing prevalence incidence.
