Infection
with
hepatitis
E
virus
(HEV)
is
a
global
health
concern,
yet
clinically
underdiagnosed
cause
of
acute
and
chronic
hepatitis.
The
WHO
estimates
that
20
million
people
are
infected
HEV
annually,
the
epidemiology,
diagnosis
prevention
remain
elusive
in
many
clinical
settings.

Hepatocellular
carcinoma
(HCC)
remains
a
global
health
challenge,
causing
600,000
deaths
each
year.
Infectious
factors,
including
hepatitis
B
virus
(HBV),
C
(HCV)
and
D
(HDV),
have
long
been
considered
the
major
risk
factors
for
development
progression
of
HCC.
These
pathogens
induce
hepatocyte
transformation
through
variety
mechanisms,
insertional
mutations
caused
by
viral
gene
integration,
epigenetic
changes,
induction
long-term
immune
dysfunction.
The
discovery
these
while
advancing
our
understanding
disease,
also
provides
targets
new
diagnostic
therapeutic
approaches.
In
addition,
research
chronic
HEV
infection
over
past
decade
indicate
that
this
common
seems
to
potential
review,
we
provide
an
overview
recent
studies
on

HCC,

E
virus
(HEV)
infection
is
a
frequent
cause
of
acute
viral
hepatitis.
Immunocompromised
patients,
especially

under
anti-CD20
regimens,
are

chronic
or
treatment-resistant

report
case
HEV
in
36-year-old
man
with
history
thrombotic
thrombocytopenic
purpura
treated
rituximab
6
months
ago,
who
presented
new-onset
painless
jaundice
and
malaise.
Laboratory
tests
imaging
revealed

hepatic
dysfunction.
Due
initial
suspicion
autoimmune
hepatitis,
corticosteroid
therapy

started.

(HEV)
can
cause
self-limiting
acute
and
chronic
hepatitis
infections,

in
immunocompromised
