The riparian zone is an important location of nitrogen removal in the terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. Many studies have focused on efficiency one or two processes zone, less attention has been paid to interaction different transformation impact situ environmental conditions. molecular biotechnology, microcosm culture experiments 15N stable isotope tracing techniques were used this research at Weinan section Wei River, reveal mechanism with multi-layer lithologic structure. results showed that rate was 4.14-35.19 μmol·N·kg-1·h-1. Denitrification, dissimilatory reduction ammonium (DNRA) anaerobic oxidation (anammox) jointly achieved natural attenuation process denitrification dominant (accounting for 59.6%). High dissolved organic nitrate ratio (DOC:NO3-) would promote denitrification, but when NO3- content than 0.06 mg/kg, DNRA occur preference denitrification. Furthermore, abundances functional genes (norB, nirS, nrfA) anammox bacterial 16S rRNA gene similar distribution patterns corresponding rates. Sedimentary NOX-, Fe(II), carbon (DOC) microbial abundance main factors affecting zone. Fe (II) promoted through dependent ferrous under mediation, DOC promotes enhancing effect. study can be management prevention control global pollution.

The riparian zone (RZ) is an important region connecting surface water and groundwater, it has widely been acknowledged for its pollutant buffering capacity. However, the decontaminating effect of RZ on trace organic compounds such as antibiotics received little attention. This study explored distribution 21 4 sulfonamide metabolites in river groundwater lower reaches Hanjiang River. diffusion exchange contaminants between riverbanks under influence conservancy projects (Xinglong Dam Yangtze-Hanjiang Water Diversion Project) were investigated. Macrolide prevalent (62.5-100%) samples (42.9-80.4%). Ofloxacin chlortetracycline detected with highest concentrations (12.2 ng L-1) (9.3 respectively. Higher levels observed spring winter than other seasons. river-groundwater interaction a certain interception antibiotics, especially near riverbanks. Redox sensitive element Fe2+ showed significantly positive correlations some tetracycline macrolide (p < 0.05), thus migration mechanism condition redox change should be investigated further. Environmental risks posed by assessed algae, daphnids, fish groundwater. Only clarithromycin presented medium risk to algae (0.1 RQ 1), rest low (RQ 0.1). Nevertheless, range may further extended interactions water. Accurate understanding antibiotic transport critical developing management strategies aimed at reducing pollution load watershed.
