Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) as one of non-degradable wastes has become a huge threat to the environment and human health. Chemical Recycle PET is an sustainable way release1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid (BDC) monomer common used organic linker for synthesis functional Metal–organic-frameworks (PET-derived MOFs) such UiO-66, MIL-101, etc. This cost-effective "Waste-to-MOFs" model great significant be intensively investigated in past years. Attributes substantial porosity, specific surface area, exposed metal centers, uniform structure, flexible morphology render PET-derived MOFs are well-suited applications adsorption, energy storage, catalysis, among others. Herein, present work, we have summarized recent advances using ex-situ in-situ methods typical catalysis storage. Despite those improvements potential applications, challenges still remain development green economical routes fully utilize waste massive manufacture valuable MOF materials chemicals. review provides insights into conversion value-added materials, further suggests promising perspectives develop addressing environmental pollution crises.
