Abstract The eradication of smallpox was officially declared by the WHO in 1980, leading to discontinuation vaccination campaign against virus. Consequently, immunity and related orthopoxviruses like Monkeypox virus gradually declines, highlighting need for efficient countermeasures not only prevention, but also treatment already exposed individuals. We have recently developed human-like monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) from vaccinia virus-immunized non-human primates. Two mAbs, MV33 EV42, targeting two infectious forms virus, were selected vivo evaluation, based on their vitro neutralization potency. A single dose either or EV42 administered three days post-infection (dpi) BALB/c female mice provides full protection lethal ectromelia challenge. Objectives: This research aims to assess the base level of knowledge and attitude Applied Medical Sciences Students regarding mpox whether an educational intervention could improve their attitude. Methods: A quasi-experimental was used, involving 960 medical students from College at Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University, KSA. They were recruited beginning November 2022 till mid January 2023 based on non-randomized sampling method. standardized, anonymous, closed-ended questionnaire compromising three main sections: participants' demographics, knowledge, attitudes toward epidemic. Results: Total scores studied sample in pretest phase 45.43 ± 6.29 compared 65.03 2.93 post-test phase. Besides, total 48.62 4.78 before program implementation, while after conducting reached 70.65 5.13. There a notable improvement score implemented, particularly for neurological manifestations. The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) faces a syndemic infectious diseases, including monkeypox (mpox), cholera, measles, anthrax, and plague, worsening public health challenges socioeconomic disparities. This review synthesizes discusses epidemiological data consequences simultaneous outbreaks in the DRC between January 2023 March 2024. findings highlight 6.7% fatality rate 3319 confirmed cases mpox, with significant Kinshasa 22 other provinces. Anthrax occasionally surfaced among cattle‐raising villages, measles affected fewer than five children susceptible to disease, cholera persisted North Kivu, South Tanganyika. Plague incidences, mostly bubonic, have been reported Ituri province. Vulnerable groups, children, mothers, elderly, those compromised immune systems, face increased risks due poor healthcare access, hunger, underlying medical conditions. Cultural beliefs, system issues, instability impede effective response tactics. strain on fragile highlights need for surveillance, immunization efforts, community involvement. To mitigate effects outbreaks, strengthening DRC’s systems through international cooperation, integrated initiatives, improved access is crucial.

Abstract Mpox is a zoonotic disease caused by the Monkeypox virus (MPXV) in family: Poxviridae, genus: Orthopoxvirus. Historically, was restricted mostly to Africa with cases being reported Central (mostly clade I) and West (caused II). However, there has been recent shift range outbreaks Europe America, countries where initially not endemic. This multi-country outbreak driven IIb lineage of MPXV. Since December 2023, an ongoing mpox Democratic Republic Congo (DRC), new I virus, designated Ib. The DRC persisted, increase over past few months. Spillover these outbreak-related neighbouring have also multiple including Uganda Rwanda. Here, we report rapid application unbiased metagenomic next generation sequencing (mNGS) reconstruct genome sequence first case MPXV Kenya. Our findings show that Kenyan clusters together Ib strains, associated sustained DRC. Clade continuing geographical expansion previously unaffected areas, high incidence as well fatality (CFR 4.9-6.7%).
