This is the first meta-analysis conducted to compare hippocampal volume measured by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in healthy normal subjects, mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and Alzheimer disease (AD), analyze relationship between changes MCI AD.English literatures published from January 2004 December 2006 were extracted PubMed, Embase, Wanfang Medical, China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases. Statistical analysis was carried out with Stata/SE 16.0 software. The smaller of hippocampus MRI, more severe or AD. Different MRI post-measurement correction methods have different measurement results: Left Raw method negatively correlated AD (OR [odds ratio] = 0.58, 95%CI [confidence interval]: 0.42, 0.75) right not associated OR 0.87, 95%CI: 0.56, 1.18); left total intracranial (TIV) Correction 0.90, 0.62, 1.19), 0.81, 0.49, 1.12); TIV 0.35, 0.62).The shrinkage closely related only an auxiliary diagnostic tool for AD, but also a good prognosis assessment tool.

The life expectancy of the global population has increased. Aging is a natural physiological process that poses major challenges in an increasingly long-lived and frail population. Several molecular mechanisms are involved aging. Likewise, gut microbiota, which influenced by environmental factors such as diet, plays crucial role modulation these mechanisms. Mediterranean well components present it, offer some proof this. Achieving healthy aging should be focused on promotion lifestyle habits reduce development pathologies associated with aging, order to increase quality In this review we analyze influence diet pathways microbiota more favorable patterns, its possible anti-aging treatment.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a growing concern for the aging population worldwide. With no current cure or reliable treatments available AD, prevention an important and area of research. A range lifestyle dietary patterns have been studied to identify most effective preventive changes against AD related dementia (ADRD) pathology. Of these, are Mediterranean, DASH, MIND, ketogenic, modified Mediterranean-ketogenic diets. However, there discrepancies in reported benefits among studies examining these patterns. We herein compile narrative/literature review existing clinical evidence on association with ADRD symptomology contemplate their preventive/ameliorative effects neuropathology various milieus. By large, plant-based found be relatively consistently positively correlated preventing reducing odds ADRD. These impacts stem not only from direct impact specific components within brain but also indirect through decreasing deleterious risk factors, such as diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular diseases. Importantly, other psychosocial factors influence intake, social connection, which may directly diet lifestyle, thereby impacting risk. To this end, prospective research should include holistic approach, including considerations.

A growing body evidence suggests that the gut microbiome plays crucial roles in development progression diseases. Clinicians have come to realize therapeutics targeting potential halt This narrative review examines alterations AD, PD, ALS HD, highlighting close relationship between brain Processes mediate microbiome-brain communication including immunological, vagus nerve circulatory pathways, evaluated. Furthermore, we summarize for diseases modify its metabolites, diets, probiotics prebiotics, microbial antibacterials faecal transplantation. Finally, current challenges future directions discussed.

The bidirectional interaction between the gut microbiota (GM) and Central Nervous System, so-called brain axis (GMBA), deeply affects function has an important impact on development of neurodegenerative diseases. In Parkinson’s disease (PD), gastrointestinal symptoms often precede onset motor non-motor manifestations, alterations in GM composition accompany pathogenesis. Several studies have been conducted to unravel role dysbiosis intestinal permeability PD progression, but therapeutic diagnostic applications modifying approaches remain be fully elucidated. After a brief introduction involvement GMBA disease, we present evidence for leaky patients. According these data, then review potential GM-based signatures serve as biomarkers highlight emerging probiotics, prebiotics, antibiotics, dietary interventions, fecal transplantation supportive PD. Finally, analyze mutual influence commonly prescribed medications gut-microbiota, offer insights also nasal oral pathology, thus providing comprehensive up-to-date overview microbial features diagnosis treatment.

Adherence to the been shown promote health reduce prevalence chronic diseases. actual implementation is affected by several sociocultural factors well geographical components. Indeed, location, such country or different areas in latitude climate, appears be an important factor that may strongly affect some its principles adherence it. Another dynamic component affecting personal nutritional choices, also regarding principles, individual life-long trajectory food preference nutrition habits awareness. Trace elements and metals play critical roles in the normal functioning of central nervous system (CNS), their dysregulation has been implicated neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD) Parkinson’s (PD). In a healthy CNS, zinc, copper, iron, manganese vital enzyme cofactors, supporting neurotransmission, cellular metabolism, antioxidant defense. Imbalances these trace can lead to oxidative stress, protein aggregation, mitochondrial dysfunction, thereby contributing neurodegeneration. AD, copper zinc imbalances are associated with amyloid-beta tau pathology, impacting cognitive function. PD involves disruption iron levels, leading damage neuronal loss. Toxic metals, like cadmium, impair synaptic transmission exacerbate neuroinflammation, CNS health. The role aluminum AD neurofibrillary tangle formation also noted. Understanding health might offer potential therapeutic targets for disorders. Codex Alimentarius standards concerning mentioned foods may be one key legal contributions safeguarding public Further research is needed fully comprehend complex mechanisms develop effective interventions.

Neurodegenerative disorders are a widespread cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, characterized by neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, neuronal depletion. They include selective malfunction progressive loss neurons, glial cells, neural networks in the brain spinal cord. There is an urgent need to develop new more effective therapeutic strategies combat these devastating diseases because, today, there no treatment that can cure degenerative diseases; however, we have many symptomatic treatments. Current nutritional approaches beginning reflect fundamental change our understanding health. The Mediterranean diet may protective effect on neurodegenerative process because it rich antioxidants, fiber, omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. Increasing knowledge regarding impact regulation at genetic molecular levels changing way consider role nutrition, resulting dietary strategies. Natural products, thanks their bioactive compounds, recently undergone extensive exploration study for potential variety diseases. Targeting simultaneous multiple mechanisms action neuroprotection approach with could prevent cell death restore function damaged neurons. For reasons, this review will be focused natural products associations between Mediterranean-style (MD), diseases, markers neurodegeneration.
