Abstract Obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD) is a disabling neuropsychiatric that affects about 2%–3% of the global population. Despite availability several treatments, many patients with OCD do not respond adequately, highlighting need for new therapeutic approaches. Recent studies have associated various inflammatory processes pathogenesis OCD, including alterations in peripheral immune cells, cytokine levels, and neuroinflammation. These findings suggest inflammation could be promising target intervention. Transcranial photobiomodulation (t‐PBM) near‐infrared light noninvasive neuromodulation technique has shown potential disorders. However, its efficacy remains to fully explored. This study aimed review literature on detailing associations T‐cell populations, monocytes, NLRP3 inflammasome components, microglial activation, elevated proinflammatory cytokines such as TNF‐α, CRP, IL‐1β, IL‐6. We also examined hypothesis‐based t‐PBM targeting these pathways focusing mechanisms modulation oxidative stress, regulation cell function, reduction deactivation neurotoxic microglia, upregulation BDNF gene expression. Our suggests promising, intervention modulate underlying processes. Future research should focus randomized clinical trials assess t‐PBM's optimal treatment parameters OCD. Biomarker analyses neuroimaging will important understanding relationship between symptom improvement following sessions.

Exposure to adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) confers a higher risk of developing depression in adulthood, yet the mediation inflammation remains under debate. To test this model, we conducted systematic review and two-stage structural equation modelling meta-analysis studies reporting correlations between ACEs before age 18, inflammatory markers severity adulthood. Scopus, Pubmed, Medline, PsycInfo, CINAHL were searched up 2 October 2023. Twenty-two data on C-reactive protein (CRP, n = 12,935), interleukin-6 (IL-6, 4108), tumour necrosis factor-α (TNF-α, 2256) composite measures (n 1674) included. Unadjusted models revealed that CRP (β 0.003, 95 % LBCI 0.0002 0.0068), IL-6 0.001 0.006), 0.009, 0.004 0.018) significantly mediated association adult depression. The effects no longer survived after adjusting for BMI; however, serial model BMI sequentially 0.002, 0.0005 0.0046), accounting 14.59 9.94 variance depressive symptoms, respectively. Due cross-sectional nature assessment findings should be approached with caution; results suggest complex interactions psychoneuroimmunological metabolic factors underlie adulthood

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is considerably heterogeneous in terms of comorbidities, which may hamper the disentanglement its biological mechanism. In a previous study, we classified lifetime trajectories MDD-related multimorbidities into seven distinct clusters, each characterized by unique genetic and environmental risk-factor profiles. The current objective was to investigate genome-wide gene-by-environment (G × E) interactions with childhood trauma burden, within context these clusters.

It is known that the effectiveness of drug treatment for depression, ammine deficit based, largely unsatisfactory.
