Examining between-website bias in online physician platforms: an empirical investigation based on patient reviews DOI

Purpose This study aims at revealing discrepancies in characteristics and patient concerns among different online physician platforms. Design/methodology/approach An integrated Latent–Dirichlet Allocation (LDA), backpropagation neural network (BPNN) importance-performance analysis (IPA) text-mining approach is proposed to compare both review ratings contents of reviews across information-driven transaction-driven Findings Approximately 240,000 from platforms were analyzed, 4 insights yielded. First, physicians’ are generally higher less dispersed on than ones. Second, platform exhibit polarity, subjectivity, diversity shorter lengths those Third, offer the most readable content. Fourth, users prioritize efficiency attributes, while gravitate towards interpersonal attributes. Practical implications These findings assist understanding users’ implementing tailored business strategies. Originality/value an LDA-BPNN-IPA method for text mining analysis, categorized into according corresponding characteristics, considering simultaneously analyzing patients’ satisfaction conditions using LDA-IPA approach.
