The complexity of competition between three native Australian fruit fly species, Bactrocera tryoni, B. neohumeralis and B. jarvisi in a changing environment

This
thesis
studies
competition
between
three
endemic
Australian
fruit
fly
species,
Bactrocera
tryoni,
B.
neohumeralis
and
jarvisi,
all
which
are
considered
to
have
pest
status
in
Australia.
Intra-
interspecific
interactions
were
investigated
adult
females
competing
for
oviposition
substrates
through
video
analysis
behavioural
observations,
as
well
laboratory
investigating
larval
competition,
within
a
changing
environment.
To
further
add
the
outcomes
of
these
investigations,
influence
third
trophic
level
on
outcome
was
evaluated
future
control
predictions.
