Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp. is a legume cultivated in tropical and subtropical areas of the world low-cost source protein. During storage, grains are infested by Callosobruchus maculatus (Fab. 1775). The aim this study was to determine laboratory during three generations duration development cycle, reproductive capacity, longevity make morphological description their stages. egg stage lasted an average 3.5 days, larva 13.0 days first second generation 14.0 third, pupa 5.0 5, 5 third. cycle for 23.0 24.5 total number eggs per female 51.6 ± 3.9; 90.2 3.6 93.2 10.5 Regarding adult longevity, it higher females than males. What has been done allows us have basic methodology subsequent biological studies stored other species that weevil our region.

This thesis studies competition between three endemic Australian fruit fly species, Bactrocera tryoni, B. neohumeralis and jarvisi, all which are considered to have pest status in Australia. Intra- interspecific interactions were investigated adult females competing for oviposition substrates through video analysis behavioural observations, as well laboratory investigating larval competition, within a changing environment. To further add the outcomes of these investigations, influence third trophic level on outcome was evaluated future control predictions.
