The global containerisation industry, while significantly advancing international trade, faces persistent challenges related to infrastructure capacity, environmental impact, and operational efficiency. One critical yet under-researched issue is the physical damage that containers endure during handling operations, particularly at port terminals. This paper examines complexities of container handling, focusing on caused by quay crane activities, especially corner hooking. Such compromises integrity, impacts cargo safety, increases costs. To address these concerns, we present Impact Detection Methodology (IDM), a system designed monitor detect in real time, enhancing precision safety. Preliminary studies conducted Klaipeda City demonstrate IDM's effectiveness, though limited data have constrained validation. Our research underscores need for broader experimentation confirm potential mitigating damage. Key findings indicate unsuccessful hooking attempts predominantly occur when are lifted from above-deck positions, influenced spreader oscillations high workloads. also highlights importance integrating sway control systems with existing management technologies assist operators reducing errors. Enhanced monitoring analysis essential improving processes, supporting sustainable growth containerisation, financial risks.

Marine transportation is pivotal in the rapid development of global trade, significantly enhancing international economic and trade connectivity impacting sustainable economy. In this study, we developed a novel technical framework based on Laplacian matrix to evaluate node significance edge shipping network using 2019 vessel schedule data from top 30 liner companies, as ranked by Alphaliner. Our analyses were conducted both L-space, characterizing function, P-space, transfer function. The findings indicate following. (1) There no consistent relationship between centrality for most ports. Ports with high are mainly located Asia–Pacific region, Singapore Port being port highest L-space Shanghai P-space. (2) structures significant improvements have at least one that exhibits low degree betweenness centrality; these primarily found East African routes. (3) more complex but notably linked ports Assaluyeh Bandar Abbas Iran. proposed evaluation addition strategy effectively analyze connectivity, providing decision-making support optimizing layouts, supporting container route planning, overall performance network.
