Enhancing regional ecosystem stability and managing land resources effectively requires identifying ecological function zones understanding the factors that influence them. However, most current studies have primarily focused on service bundles, paying less attention to trade-offs, synergies, sensitivity, leading a more uniform approach functional zoning. This study aimed analyze describe spatial temporal patterns of four essential services, including water yield (WY), net primary productivity (NPP), soil conservation (SC), habitat quality (HQ), in Sichuan-Yunnan buffer area over period from 2005 2019. Spatial overlay analysis was used assess bundles define zones. Geographic detectors were then applied identify drivers variation these The findings showed progressive improvement functions within zone. Between 2019, NPP, conservation, all demonstrated positive trends, while HQ displayed declining trend. There significant heterogeneity distinct functions, with general decrease southwest northeast, particularly NPP HQ. Trade-offs evident between WY northeast east regions. Ecological sensitivity decreased northeast. Regions higher situated southwestern region, their distribution pattern comparable high quality. categorized areas into various types, human production settlement zones, ecologically vulnerable transition accounting for 17.28%, 22.30%, 7.41%, 53.01% total area, respectively. environmental factor affecting zoning identified as precipitation, main social variables activity population density. enhances supports sustainable development offering important guidance

Landscape-index calculation tools play a pivotal role in ecosystem studies and urban-planning research, enabling objective assessments of landscape patterns’ similarities differences. However, the existing encounter limitations, such as inability to visualize indices spatially challenge computing for both vector raster data simultaneously. Based on QGIS development platform, this study presents an innovative framework landscape-index that addresses these limitations. The seamlessly integrates data, comprising three main modules: input, calculation, visualization. In data-input module, tool accommodates various formats, including vector, raster, tabular data. indices’ module allows users select at patch, class, scales. Notably, provides comprehensive set 165 20 empowering selectively calculate or their specific needs leverage strengths each type. Moreover, visualization enhances spatial capabilities, meeting user demands insightful analysis. By addressing challenges offering enhanced functionalities, aims advance foster more analyses. And it novel approach development.

Introduction Transportation corridors, as special economic have a greater impact on land cover and landscape pattern changes. Methods Therefore, 10 buffer zones were established at 1 km intervals both sides of the Longhai Railway centerline to trace railroad corridor use change regional cities along line from 1985 2020. Result The results show that: (1) changes during 35 years are mainly characterized by conversion between cropland, grassland, construction land. Compared with 1985, in 2020, increased 161.96%, grassland area decreased 11.83%, cropland 15.83%. (2) fragmentation patches vegetation coverage is negatively positively correlated zone distance, respectively. In same year, comprehensive land-use dynamic degree smaller it further away railway. nighttime light index significantly aggregation average patch area, closer railroad, higher (3) terms zoning, intensity eastern section than that western section, more agglomeration land, transportation has integrated motives this region. study can provide scientific basis for optimising spatial improving ecological environment cross-regional transport corridors.

Launching green transport infrastructure is important for sustainable development frameworks and fosters land-use practices. Policy provisions promoting integrated sustainability in road planning are critical should incorporate biodiversity needs. We synthesised key existing South African policies to assess their implementation effectiveness mainstreaming ecological connectivity framework of planning. have developed an analytical advancing the used it review policies. Furthermore, we Driving Forces-Pressures-State-Impacts-Responses (DPSIR) examine provide information on drivers pressures expansion poor transportation Africa. Foreign direct investment (FDI) can reshape landscapes in developing countries, but its impact remains unclear. This study examines how China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) FDI impacts land-cover land-use change Southeast Asia, a key trade partner receiving significant Chinese infrastructure investments. Focusing on areas with BRI investments from 2008 to 2018, we utilize satellite data analyze changes across Asia (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam), particularly urban growth deforestation. We find that districts received experienced nearly 5% greater rate of deforestation than the regional average, 001% 0.007% tree cover associated 1% increase investment. Districts also showed increases cropland grasslands. While statistical tests indicate immediate are modest, our findings suggest potential future environmental consequences ongoing economic development.
