Abstract This chapter discusses the theory, design, and technology of computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL) for promoting inquiry productive discourse, illustrated with several major CSCL research traditions. CSCL, which emerged in 1990s as an interdisciplinary field, examines how collaboration is supported by technology, focusing on social interactions computational artifacts. goes beyond individual learning, emphasizing group cognition coordinated processes through learners negotiate co-construct shared understandings knowledge construction. includes seven sections: (1) Introduction, (2) What theoretical perspectives, (3) technological affordances, (4) Designing environments programs, (5) Methodology analysis collaboration, (6) Emerging themes design implications, (7) Future directions. After introducing distinctive features underpinnings including socio-cognitive, socio-cultural, knowledge-creation well affordances that inform learning. Several traditions are discussed, ranging from structured to open-ended environments, Collaborative Scripting, Metacognition Regulation, Argumentation, Dialogism, Knowledge Building, a focus theory-design-technology integration. also explores methods new technologies, analytics, examining supporting collaboration. diverse comparative analyses these different long-standing highlight emerging implications. directions point provocations developing expanded frameworks designs embrace diversity leverage advances support innovation, creativity.

Abstract Fostering students’ dialogic reflection in the classroom entails promoting diverse perspectives and collaborative aspects of reflective thinking. However, few studies have developed visualisation tools to create a environment that fosters reflection, especially for young learners.
