Major depressive disorder is a prevalent mental disorder, yet its pathogenesis remains poorly understood. Accumulating evidence implicates dysregulated immune mechanisms as key contributors to disorders. This review elucidates the complex interplay between peripheral and central components underlying pathology. Peripherally, systemic inflammation, gut dysregulation, dysfunction in organs including gut, liver, spleen adipose tissue influence brain function through neural molecular pathways. Within nervous system, aberrant microglial astrocytes activation, cytokine imbalances, compromised blood-brain barrier integrity propagate neuroinflammation, disrupting neurotransmission, impairing neuroplasticity, promoting neuronal injury. The crosstalk immunity creates vicious cycle exacerbating neuropathology. Unraveling these multifaceted immune-mediated provides insights into major disorder's pathogenic basis potential biomarkers targets. Modulating both responses represent promising multidimensional therapeutic strategy.

Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) often experience mild cognitive impairment and other neurocognitive disorders. Studies have shown that erythropoietin (EPO) its receptor neuroprotective effects in cell animal models of nervous system Recombinant human EPO (rHuEPO), commonly used to treat anemia CKD patients, could be a agent. In this systematic review, we aimed assess the published studies investigating benefits rHuEPO treatment individuals reduced function. We comprehensively searched Pubmed, Cochrane Library, Scopus, Web Science databases from 1990 2023. After selection, 24 were analyzed, considering study design, sample size, participant characteristics, intervention, main findings. The collective results these patients indicated enhances brain function, improves performance on neuropsychological tests, positively affects electroencephalography measurements. These findings suggest promising agent for managing CKD-related impairment.

UVB radiation is known to induce photodamage the skin, disrupt skin barrier, elicit cutaneous inflammation, and accelerate aging process. Agaricus blazei Murill (ABM) an edible medicinal nutritional fungus. One of its constituents, polysaccharide (ABP), has been reported exhibit antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, immunomodulatory effects, which suggests potential effects that protect against photodamage. In this study, a UVB-induced HaCaT model was established investigate reparative ABP two constituents (A1 A2). Firstly, purified polysaccharides, A1 A2, were obtained by DEAE-52 cellulose column chromatography, their physical properties chemical structures studied. A2 exhibited network-like microstructure, with molecular weights 1.5 × 104 Da 6.5 Da, respectively. The on cell proliferation, mitochondrial membrane potential, inflammatory factors also explored. results show significantly promoted enhanced suppressed expression interleukin-1β (IL-1β), interleukin-8 (IL-8), interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), increased relative content filaggrin (FLG) aquaporin-3 (AQP3). down-regulated JAK-STAT signaling pathway found play role in response These findings underscore ameliorate damage.
