Abstract The postharvest lifespan of horticultural products is closely related to loss nutritional quality, accompanied by a rapid decline in shelf life, commercial value, and marketability. Melatonin (MT) application not only maintains quality but also delays senescence products. This paper reviews biosynthesis metabolism endogenous MT, summarizes significant effects exogenous MT on products, examines regulatory mechanisms MT‐mediated effects, provides an integrated review for understanding the positive role delay maintenance. As multifunctional molecule, coordinates other signal molecules, such as ABA, ETH, JA, SA, NO, Ca 2+ , regulate ripening senescence. Several metabolic pathways are involved regulation during senescence, including synthesis transduction plant hormones, redox homeostasis, energy metabolism, carbohydrate degradation pigment cell wall components. Moreover, regulates expression genes antioxidant systems, generation, fruit firmness colour, membrane integrity, storage. Consequently, could become emerging eco‐friendly preservative extend life maintain

Tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa Andr.), which is a traditional flower cultivated in China, rapidly becoming an important species the cut industry. Thus, extending vase life of tree flowers major goal Melatonin, new type antioxidant, plays regulatory role preservation flowers. Therefore, this study employed “Diguan” as test material to investigate preservative effects antioxidant melatonin on “Diguan”. We examined terms their morphology, lifespan, relative fresh weight, diameter, and water balance value after treatments with different concentrations (0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5 mg·L−1) select optimal treatment concentration. Considered together, these analyses clarified Specifically, exogenous application positively affected by improving increasing soluble protein content enzyme activities, thereby prolonging ornamental period The weight branches significantly correlated protein, lifespan increases values branches, large correlation coefficient. It can be used indicator measure subsequent research. 0.4 mg L−1 was for preserving because its positive duration quality.

Citrus black rot caused by the pathogen Alternaria alstroemeriae severely affects growth and production of citrus industry. In order to further elucidate fruit in Yunnan Province, pathogenic fungi causing were identified through isolation purification, pathogenicity testing, morphological characteristics, rDNA ITS sequence analysis. Meanwhile, we synthesized curcumin-loaded nanoliposomes, a potential management approach control postharvest pathogen, conducted vitro vivo experiment investigate effects different nanoliposomes treatments inhibitory effect A. . The results showed that diseases alstroemeriae, Rhizopus arrhizus, Aspergillus flavus Penicillium digitatum. had on , minimum fungicidal concentration (MIC) against hyphae was 10 μmol/L, 4MIC treatment significantly reduced occurrence test. Curcumin-loaded also enhanced activities enzymes PPO, APX, POD, PAL, GR CAT citrus, decreased O 2 − rate. accumulation ASA, GSH hydrogen radical scavenging rate reticulata Blanco ‘Orah’ increased fruit, which may be directly responsible for delayed onset disease. Furthermore, maintained quality delaying TSS, TA degradation higher level total phenolics flavonoid contents fruit. Overall, our findings revealed functioning as plant elicitor, could effectively modulate physiological enzyme confer resistance highlighted sustainable agricultural practices.

Guava fruit is susceptible to decay, leading losses in storability and quality. ε-Poly-l-lysine (ε-PL) a safe antimicrobial polypeptide that has proven be effective preserving produce’s In the present research, ε-PL, at multiple concentrations (1, 2 4 g/L), was adopted treat guavas, were stored 25 °C for 15 d. The results indicated ε-PL retarded guava decline enhanced its Treated guavas had better appearance, as well lower disease index, relative electrolytic leakage, weight loss, respiration intensity, a* b* values reducing sugar content. They also showed higher firmness, commercially acceptable rate, titratable acidity, L* value, total soluble sugar, vitamin C sucrose levels. optimal concentration of determined g/L. Furthermore, compared control treated with g/L exhibited levels superoxide anion, hydrogen peroxide malondialdehyde but antioxidant enzyme activities terms ascorbate peroxidase, catalase dismutase. These findings suggest raised enhance fruit’s ability. This, turn, reduced reactive oxygen species lipid peroxidation, ultimately improving guava’s Consequently, practical significance commercial application it suppresses decay stabilizes quality enhancing their postharvest marketability.

Leaf-vegetable sweet potatoes incurred significant losses during storage, which resulted in a shortened shelf life and reduced commercial value. This study investigated the effects of tea polyphenols (TPs) fumigation microporous packaging (MP) 10 days at °C 90–95% RH. The results indicated that preservation followed order TP + MP > CK, with treatment effectively controlling degradation rate chlorophyll delaying leaf yellowing. In addition, increased activity antioxidant enzymes, especially catalase (CAT) ascorbate peroxidase (APX), also enhanced non-enzymatic systems (flavonoids, total phenolics, ascorbic acid). Pearson’s correlation analysis showed positive between decline postharvest quality leaf-vegetable increase reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. provided robust theoretical technical foundation for development effective strategies potatoes.

Anthocyanins, flavonoids with strong antioxidant activity, give rise to a fruit peel color and provide health benefits. Studies have revealed that melatonin promotes anthocyanin accumulation. However, the function of endogenous hormones in this process remains elusive. Here, we investigated effect ethylene signaling on accumulation melatonin-treated pear fruit. Melatonin promoted while repressing production; its biosynthesis background ethephon pretreatment was eliminated. Transcriptome analysis PuERF27, melatonin-induced response factor (ERF), as candidate gene. Transient overexpression PuERF27 is essential for enhancing activating genes, whereas silencing repressed Yeast one-hybrid, electrophoretic mobility shift, GUS assays indicated could bind directly positively regulate PuMYB10 PuGSTF12 promoters. Further studies together PuMYB10, synergistically transactivates promoter.
